Im dying to talk to someone about how much I love my HD TV and Cable. I mean I spent all weekend with my girlfriend watching every HD show there was.

We watch an HD Discovery Channel show on a Fed Ex plain hijacking attempt. We watched a WW2 Doc on PBS (detroit).

I watched parts of the Toronto Vs Ottawa game in HD.

We watched Jay Leno, Connan O'brien and even Satruday Night Live in HD.

We watched so much HD TV that when we watched some DVD movies we were like "what the hell? Have DVDs always looked this crappy?".

Its amazing. I just dont think I could be more happy, but I want to know what other people are doing with their HD TVs.

I have Direct TV HD and sporting events honestly are completely differnt in HD to me. Saturdays/Sundays I'm stuck watching NCAA/NFL football most of the day. Also I've found myself watching the Discovery and History channel more and more in recent months and the Discovery channel HD has some amazing content on it, especially the underwater shows. Now I say that I have HD TV, actually it's my unlce that has it, I'm staying with them till I start my job.

Once I move into my place in Spokane I will be buying this set as a 'congrats on the new job' gift to myself lol.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/offer- ... ition=all/

so i cant wait to hook up the xbox 360 to it, especially since Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion will be out by then(hopefully).

Forgive me but what does HD stand for? I'm guessing something along the lines of High Defintion, but that's not a term commonly used here.

I believe it was like a month ago the FCC finally "officially" announced that all television broadcasts will have to be digital. So all those old analog TV's will need a lil converter to even work anymore. I'd expect most of the big stations to have already convert by then anyhow though.

My family has had HD cable for a few years. I have been spoiled by it and hate watching normal TV lol. Yeah 480p DVDs tend to not look so hot compared to the best HD content. I wish HDTV was the standard and every channel would broadcast in HD, but not everyone will buy HDTVs since they still are a little too expensive for some. The image quality is worth it though and I can't see why anyone would want to watch normal cable after watching HD in 1080 16:9 aspect ratio glory on a big screen. Pretty sure all HD cable providers have INHD right? That channel has lots of good stuff. Sucks you don't have HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc in HD though lol.

Yeah I know talisin wants to get the TMN Package. Its like 15 bucks a month. Probably just gonna split that with talisin.

We dont get HBO due to Canadian Broadcasting restrictions. Same reason we dont get most the big Network Channels.

Theres a rule in Canadian Broadcasting and its something like 10% of all programming on Canadian Television must be original Canadian content.

Its gay. 90% of the original Canadian content is garbage lol with the occational exception.

Has Canada announced any plans to force all broadcasts to digital?

Alas, I don't have HD, so it doesn't matter

we dont even get non HD HBO, but we get a TMN Package that airs all the HBO stuff. We also get Showcase Theater that has most populare HBO shows uncut and unsensored. Thats on normal cable. Canada's censorship is pretty lax compared to the US lol.

Oh but I was happy to see that the Discovery Channel HD in canada finally went full HD 24/7. Before it was mostly just normal 480i upscaled to 1080i and wasnt that impressive. now its like all true 1080i and it looks amazing. my girlfriend gets so sick of watching stupid Discovery Channel shows but I love it lol.

they need more regular nature programs tho... it's like mtv, they used to play msuic videos, now you'd be damned if you caught like 30mins of straight music videos. Animal Planet used to be mostly like educational nature programs (plus SHARK WEEK \m/), now it's mostly shows, and i think all their on-air personalities suck: crotch hunter, jeff corwin, animal precinct ppl, the guy who hosts planets funniest animals... I'd like to get them all together and give them one giant blanket party:

It's just like the Daily Planet people (or whatever that show is called). An old guy who reminds me of Bram from Sharon, Lois and Bram...and the exo-skeleton British woman. Ugliest person I've ever seen. lol That mouth could eat their entire set! Yikes!!!!!
