I've seen it twice, once with my friends then with my family, I really enjoyed it for the most part. I give it an 8.5/10

I enjoyed the new superman movie immensely. I went and saw it at an imax theatre. the acting/visuals/direction all excellent in my opinion. Best movie i've seen in a long time.

I was really impressed with the movie. I went in with high hopes but I dont know if those were met in the way I wanted them to be. I mean the movie from an action stand point was awesome. The feats he preformed were very superman like.

I had problems with the movies direction and story. I love Kevin Spacey but I didnt feel like I was watching Kevin Spacey and not Lex Luthor. I also didnt like Kate Bosworth(s?) as LL. I mean really, she was way too soft. Loise a ball breaker.

I hope the movie does well and we get a trilogy. Its already been confirmed that WB wants to make another for release in summer 2009.

I posted this on the KMC forums. I figured it was better than what I wrote here.

Quote:
This movie follows along with Superman 1 and 2. This movie does not strictly follow the comics, so subtle changes in characters are bound to be seen.

I agree that when you look at this movie from the eyes of a comic fan it falls short.

A friend of mine who never reads superman comics but loves the superman movies asked me how it was. This is what I told him.

"The movie is a perfect continuation of the superman movies. If you were a fan of the movies, you are in for a very big treat. I didnt like it as much as I wanted too because it still didnt have that Comic book superman feel, but over all I walked out happy, I mean god knows we could have had Superman Lives."

Over all I got pretty much what I expected. I walked out of the theater more than happy about spending the 10 odd bucks to see it. Theres a reason most comic book to movie conversions have problems. The problem is that you cant please everyone at the table. You can please the diehard fans and leave the casul readers scratching their heads, or you can make a movie that feeds the needs of the non comic fans.

I honestly just dont think making a movie that feeds both groups is going to work. Although I do feel the superman movies are as good as it gets to feeding both.

Good luck with that dream. The movie apparently costed a total of 348 million dollars. A ball-busting blockbuster would get them out of the red, but not make them a ton of cash. Luckily they're whoring out to all the merchandise in the world too.

That number is the TOTAL cost of the movie including all the money spent on people like Tim Burton and what not. Singer in an interview said the movie we saw actually cost around 200million i think (a high price but not anything nuts). WB has already confirmed that the sequel will be out in the summer of 2009.

According to Wikipedia:

Quote:
This film has been rumored to be one of the most expensive ever, with an alleged budget of $260,000,000 [3]. However, director Bryan Singer initially debunked this figure, claiming it was "a little lower than $200,000,000"

...

That figure, alongside Singer's $185 million, gives a total cost of $335 million.
