This is pretty insane. I really hate when shows like CSI and what not blow up an image and it "sharpens" so that its even more detailed when you zoom in. I guess that could be a reality in like 20 years when people start using 720MP cameras.

I cant even imagine. I assume the camera used was massive, not some hand held camera that we are use too.

Id like to see a picture from a roof top of an active and busy city.

He used a Canon 10D, nothing extremely special...it's layers of 169 photos compressed into a single image result.

Technical Specs of
"Sydney By Night"

Total Resolution 720 MegaPixels (approx 40,000 x 18,000 pixels)
Camera Used Canon 10D, Canon 100-400L lens
Total Photos Used 169 (90% at 400mm, 10% at 200mm)
Exposure 6 second, f/6.7, ISO 200
Time to take Photos 52 minutes
Software Used to Create Image Autopano Pro
Time for Autopano Pro to Create Image Less than 1 hour!
Final Image Size 1.3 GB!
Web Viewer Software Zoomify, with 14,729 demand-loaded images

Hope you enjoy the image as much as I enjoyed making it!

All up this image is the outcome of several days work - although in the end it only took about 3 hours to create. The rest of the time was spent trying to work out the best way to take the photos, and the best software use to create the final image.

In the end Autopano Pro turned out to give the best results, and was by far the fastest, with processing time of less than an hour (other similar tools were taking over 2 hours for an image with only 37 photos!)

After several requests you can now buy Prints of this photo. Click here to order!
Unfortunately ordering prints of zoomed images isn't possible.
