Not sure if this has been brought up, but anyways ..

I’ve been thinking about the new LVL Capped EXP zones.

Lets say you’re L45 and @2000 TNL. You get pimped out in L30 gear, and enter a L30 capped zone.. you are now L30 (capped)

You exp for a few hours and gain 6000 exp. Does that mean you level up to L46? Once you exit the capped zone you will be L46?

Imagine a full PT decked out in the best L30 gear. Without the cap they are all around L50 IRL. The go nuts and exp non-stop in this L30 capped zone for days, weeks, months, never leaving.. They exit the lvl capped zone and they are all now L75.

You mean to tell me you could lvl from 30-75 in one zone on the same monsters never having to leave? That’s wacked.

im not so sure that's exactly how it works... and if it is, the monsters must be extremely difficult and/or give low exp

the way it reads to me sounds like what yuo have said Spork... however these zones would get over-crowded and boring after a few days.

Also you inventory would become full... and you would have to leave...

The read out sounds like if your over lvl 50 / 60 you get the xp bonus' too whilst capped.....

PS the good side it that a lvl 60+ player wont have to wait 6 days to get a party....

Can you exp in those zones? Maybe it's like dynamis and you don't get exp off mobs.

Players will now receive experience points when fighting monsters in level-restricted areas (this only applies when fighting in the new Chains of Promathia areas). The amount earned per battle will be calculated using the following two methods, with the player receiving the higher total of the two:
(a) EXP calculations made based on current party level and number of party members * 0.5
(b) EXP calculations made based on actual party level (before level was restricted) and number of party members * 1.0

EXP chain bonuses are based on the party level before the restriction.

In a lvl 30 zone, you would get half the exp of uncapped lvl 30 party with no exp chains.

I don't think there will be too many people trying to exp in these areas.

(Ah, I now see that Hobo beat me to this...)

Of course this is all speculation but here goes:

I'm pretty sure the exp you gain in these is applied to the job you enter with. For example, if you're a WHM74 @1, go into the zone, get level capped to WHM30, and kill a mob, you'll probably come out as a WHM75 @43,xxx.

So, yeah, technically you can sit in this area and exp all the way up to 75 (except for limit breaks and anything else you have to do).

They balanced this, though, with their exp formulas:

(a) EXP calculations made based on current party level and number of party members * 0.5
(b) EXP calculations made based on actual party level (before level was restricted) and number of party members * 1.0

Once your "real level" gets high enough, (b) is not going to apply anymore because the mobs will check "Too weak." So, you use formula (a) and the current party level will be, for example, 30. I would guess that the .5 multiplier is going to really weigh you down. Now, when you kill an IT mob, instead of getting, for instance, 170 exp, you'll get 85. 85 for an IT with the attendant downtime you'll have will probably discourage a lot of people. Remember, you'll be capped at level 30, so no Refresh, Convert, Mage's Ballad II, or some of those really great weapon skills. You'll get exp, but it's going to be a lot slower than a non-level capped zone.

All that said, I'm still a fan because (1) yeah, it makes getting a party a lot easier, and (2) it makes it possible to play with friends who are not the same level or want to level a job that isn't the same level.

it will be fun to level with people who are level 30 when you're trying to exp your level 70+ job
