Yahweh didn't respect the existence of other Gods. Christians certainly tried to soften him up considerably, realizing that old testament religious beliefs could not function as a state religion as it was somewhat exclusive. Still, one of the core tenets that remained throughout was that He was indisputably the only God and that worshipers of other gods were to be exterminated. This is a tenet that Christians and Jews love to stick on Muslims (in Islam u hav 2 kill any1 who isnt islmanic). Unfortunately, those passages are found within the Old Testament, and thus are acknowledged as the word of God himself by all three monothestic faiths.

The change in yahweh/the jews' acknowledgment of others took place when he went from being a community god to being a universal god. He was still the one but I'm fairly sure he stopped directly ordering genocides after that. lol

Yeah to me its ofn that people have both been killed by God by order or by other means through various religions. To a believer all of God's deathcount of humans is justified by means that are not of their understanding. So basically they are saying they are incapable of understanding their God's reasoning for any decision he makes. Decisions being to kill people or say things are right or wrong. An omnipotent creator answers to no person after all, especially his creations. Something claiming to be the one true creator doesn't have to respect other gods, because they don't really exist. That makes it not even worth questioning things for most believers. That shit is going to happen anyways and there is nothing you can do to stop it basically. There are things beyond your control.

Supposedly they want to kill drug addiction/alcoholism, mental disorders, etc all in the womb somehow genetically. That would represent a cure as no baby would be born gay, schizophrenic, autistic, chemical reliant or anything else seen as negative. Everyone would be the same basicallly, which could be both good and bad lol. Heart Disease is genetic for example and that could be solved that way. Science offers some interesting possibilities in that regard, I agree.

Gattaca - good movie about all that

Yeah I saw Gattaca it was pretty good. It was no award winner, but it had a decent representation of that type of future and the dilemmas that might arise because of it. Those type of concepts have been done in sci-fi before. Well genetic engineering. It would be really cool if that type of stuff was going on before the end of my lifetime. I am sure other interesting scientific discoveries will take place as well.

It would be great to be able to cure mental disorders in the womb for sure. I don't think you can view disorders as a positive because it makes the individual unique. Ultimately a person's individuality is formed for the most part operantly so getting rid of their homosexuality or schizophrenia in the womb is really just eliminating something that would cause them suffering in the future.

yet good art, good clothing, and good music comes from a fair amount of people that exhibited disorders of some kind, or were gay (which I don't even view as a disorder, I just see it as a preference); Freddy Mercury, Versace, a few famous writers, painters, elightened thinkers etc. Whether this was just a coincidence or by-product is not entirely known but some of the "greats" would not fit the mold of a "genetically-superior" individual.

My point is that I think they were great in spite of their disorders, that is, that a great person is formed mostly through operant conditioning and not their genetics. While some people are naturally intelligent and some naturally moronic (denchi) I think that the condition in which they are raised and the ideas they are exposed to affect them more than the fact that some of them had mental disorders. Eradicating those disorders in the womb won't make everyone like the people on the Island

agreed, I think nurture plays a stronger role than nature, but that is an age-old argument that can go on ad nauseum.
