Is playing the didgeridoo a sport?
Training to be a brain surgeon?
Writing a book?

All of these take concentration and dedication, physical discipline at least for the first two and can all be some kind of competition.

lol, I remember in school where we were asked to define sport and how difficult it was, 30 people came up with 30 different answers so I'm not trying to rag on you about it, just playing devil's advocate sort of (is that a sport?)

My roomates and I were trying to come up with an all-encompassing definition on a "sport" the other day. We were trying to exclude things like cheerleading and chess. But I was trying to INCLUDE something like Sport Shooting. after much deliberation I found that it's impossible to include shooting as a sport, and therefore it isn't.

I'm still working in my definition, though.

Dude, u my friend are a moron...enough said.

Anything that takes extreme praticing, lots of time spend into preparing at the highest level of a competition can be a sport.

Even seen the biathalon at the winter olympics? Yea, that sport where you have to cross country sky a very long distance (speed it big) then try to shoot a target at 100m? Yea, that takes extreme skill because you have to literally control your breathing after skiing 10 miles....and its freezing cold.

Have you ever shot clay pigeons at a competition? Didn't think so, do you have any freaking idea how hard it is? Clays come from many directions, you have to be completly on target, and still switch out and put more shells in.

Sport shooting is a sport that takes more preperation and concentration that probally most sports.

Dumb-ass

I remember partying with you in Bibiki Bay a long time ago. I thought you were quite possibly the largest dumbass I'd ever met in-game and vowed never to party with you again. And I haven't, and I think i'm a happier person for it.

Of course you can shoot FOR sport. As long as it includes the basic fuctions a sport incorporates, like competition and practice. But then... you can make ANYTHING a sport. Hell, I could throw a ball up in the air, and as long as I practice and get good at it, include certain stipulations and compete against other people I could CALL it a sport. But I'm trying to discount things like that in my definition. So yes, while certain forms of shooting could count as sport, just going out and hunting by yourself for "sport" I don't think should be counted.

So Macabre, why don't you get worked up in your next post and call me names some more? That way you'll sound like a complete tard worthy of being a brainless gun advocate that starts shit any chance they get whether or not they really understand/care about what's being talked about. Lemme guess, you drive a truck?

As much as ponuch is a troll, he makes great points

and noppe, don't own a truck, nice try though

If we partied, ok.....I could really care less to be honest, FFXI sucks, Haven't played in 1 1/2 years, so the chance the person you partied w/ was probally my irl friend who took the account.

Mandos, seriously man, come on....you know what I meant.

Sport shooting, yes a sport, aka clay shooting. Sport hunting, not a sport, any moron can sit in a stand w/ a high powered rifle and shoot a deer at 300 yards........

Well competition is a big part of being a sport. Sport shooting you would be competing against another person and since shooting is a part of an event in the olympics, then it would be hard to not qualify it as a sport. I don't care either way though lol.
