Im not a huge fan of theater, but I do appreciate a good show every now and then. Ive actually seen quite a few shows (nothing on Broadway) in Toronto. Stuff like Mamma Mia, Hairspray, The Lion King and some others.
Id probably go see this just for fun. Its pretty cool that the same costume designer as the Lion King is going to do the costumes for this show. The fact that Bono and the Edge are writing the music is just awesome.

A Broadway musical based on the web-slinging superhero is in the works, Marvel Studios said Friday. It will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor with new music and lyrics by U2 frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge.
The musical will be the first time a Marvel Comics character has been the subject of a show on Broadway, the company said. U2 rockers will unite to pen music for Spider-Man, the Broadway musical.

Apparently Spider-Man wasn't satisfied with webbing indie rock's finest. Now, Gotham's savior has nabbed members of one of the biggest bands in the world, U2, as musical contributors to Spider-Man, the Broadway musical, Playbill.com reports. Bono and the Edge will team with Julie Taymor (The Lion King) to write songs for the forthcoming musical.
A "29-hour rehearsed reading" will be held July 12-13 in New York City, but first, directors are seeking a young man with a "great pop/rock voice" for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as well as a young lady for the role of Mary-Jane and "three teenage boys and one girl" for a the "Geek Chorus," which will "ritualistically retell the greatest Spider-Man stories." Rehearsals begin July 2. A spokesperson for U2 could not be reached as of press time.
