I don't envy you for thinking the white stripes are the end all of music. They're both varying degrees of talentless hacks. The dude is the hipster "i'm the epitome of an artist" type of talentless hack, whereas the chick is just horribly shitty at playing music and doesn't contribute whatsoever.

But between their legion of sixteen year old "counterculture" fans and the editors of Rolling Stone, they somehow remain relevant.

They just sound like bands from the 70s. Like a half-assed Led Zeppelin. Pretty much exclusively blues pentatonic stuff in 4/4 from what I heard. Nothing special but it is catchy. The whole retro thing isn't what I would pay to see, that is all.

I enjoy The White Stripes when they do their signature stuff. The Drum and Guitar only stuff is cool, its different and its pretty unique. The new album is my least favorite, the older stuff is much better imo.
