Erm, I've been trying to get on all day but all it never goes past the "Retrieving Friend List" on POL. :/ Anyone know what's up with that?

Anyone from the New York/New Jersey area with OptimumOnline may not be able to sign onto the game for a while. Last night at 1-2am I was booted off and haven't been able to log in since then, despite having perfect internet connection.

I called both OptimumOnline and SE, and Optimum said they haven't done any upgrades or maintenance that would affect the ISP for the game (does that make sense? not too computer savvy here heh). SE says they are trying to resolve the issue with OptimumOnline but failed to give an approximate time when the issue will be resolved.

I know Reinheld uses this service, so perhaps he is having the same issues as I am. Anyway, just wanted to let ya know.

PS: I keep getting proxy issues and network cannot be reached.. *seems* to be more of an SE problem.

OPTIMUMONLINE HAS CLOSED OFF PORT25.. THE PORT THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EMAIL... RECIEVING EMAIL...(THAT IS WHY ME AND REIN AND MANY OTHERS CAN'T GET PASSED THE RETRIEVING EMAIL LOADED)


THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF OPENING PORT25 UNTIL THEY FEEL THAT THE NETWORK IS SAFE

IM CANCELLING MY SUBCRIPTION NOW .. THIS IS ME LOSING MY INTERNET CONNECTION AS WE SPEAK SINCE IM ONT HE PHONE WITH THE SERVICE REP. SEE U GUY SIN A FEW DAYS IRL

its sorta mind numbing how minscule as somthing as caps lock can bother ppl like u guys, when ur completing missing the point behind the msg....

anyway, as i told some LS member of mine earlier.. as i was writing the msg i was on with the service rep and he told me my internet was justs hut off.. so i typed as fast as i could to get the msg out.. not know how long i really had. it so happened i was in caps lock but didnt feel the need to redo the entire post considering,t hat technically, i no longer had a provider to "post" it up....

BTW, this affects EVERYONE in the NYC/Nj area who use optimum online.. thats a lot of ppl. good luck to all.

heh, thats cool i guess. I didn't think i needed to watch my back for the Anally Straitlaced Caps-Lock Police, Plasma and Ketrebu, when i was really trying to let others know what was going on not only with myself, but with the entire gaming community in NYC/NJ.

I'm just curious where you heard we closed off port 25 on anything. Everything that happens or is changed I will know about. There was no changes made yesterday morning on any OOL equip.

Ghostsinger - i spoke with a service rep at cablevision, or OptimumOnline, and he admitted that port25 was closed off for security reasons. Call them, or visit them as it seems, to verify for urself.

First of all no game company uses any ports below 1024 for snmp reasons. Plus we have been blocking of port 25 for at least a month now. I meant changes since yesterday morning...

I was just repeating what everyone was saying at the time. I don't bother calling OptOnline because I know the service I'll recieve.

Port 25 being closed off I caught wind of from Reinheld, whom I'm sure got it from some other forum like Allakzham (don't quote me though). Again, I called and asked about this port and he said that is had been closed off.

I'm glad that there were no changes in the OOL equipment yesterday morning, but maybe you missed a memo b/c undeniably something is askew. And, the common thread are OOL users in the NYC/NJ area.





You sound defensive here lolol ... As far as equipment changes yesterday morning ... I couldn't answer that for you. As far as gaming ports 25 been closed for a month, that I didn't know, nor can I validate it from where I am. OOL has always been a terrible ISP for me, perhaps for others they are great. I wouldn't put it past OOL for the dilemna to be caused on their end.

Do you have any speculation as to why OOL users can't play FFXI since there haven't been any equipment changes at OOL? I will make the necessary phone calls to rectify this situation.

I'm curious, who is your ISP? If it is OOL, and assuming you live within NYC/NJ, are you able to sign into the game?
