Okay, so here's the shortest version of this story I can possibly give.

I have had the same job for three years. Its not a great job, but I used to love the people that I worked with. Also, having been there for three years I'm one of the most senior staff.

But, a couple of months ago my friend got fired for bullshit reasons. He was pretty much not liked by my manager. But, I supported her in firing him because she felt it would make our store stronger.

Well, the opposite has happened. Since he quit, another one of the most important people there quit. Between these two guys, they did so much work that they essentially kept our store running.

At this point, the store is running into the ground. Things are not being done properly and as a result, the store is a mess and we are hurting our customers.

On top of this, my two managers hired four new people. Incompetent is not a strong enough word to describe these people. They are lazy, they invent excuses for why they can't do certain jobs around the store....I could go on for hours.

As it stands now, I have a sucky job working with people I can't stand. I would like to talk to my manager tonight about some of the things that have been going wrong, but I don't know how to approach her. What would you do?

You cant go wrong telling her what you just said here. Truth of the matter is that they arnt hiring people who can do the job. I still think you should goto the Area manager or lets just go job hunting.

I may go to the Area Manager. I just would like to talk to P first. I want to give her a chance to tell me what the hell is going on. If she has to plan on how to deal with the new people, I have to go to the AM. I she can't get a handle on T, then I will kill him. If he ever even says my name again, I will kill him.

How you should approach it depends in part on what your position is in the store. You said you are Senior staff. Is that the equivalent of an assistant manager, or are you more of a lead for the gaggle of pigeons they just hired?

That's a signal you have poor upper management. Anyway I would start looking for a new job in your spare time. Approach your boss, say what you just said: "I support you but I am also concerned with the competence of the new hirees." Maybe come up with some kind of training idea to give the new hirees a chance. But say, "I am unhappy working in these conditions. I want to stay and continue working for you but if we cannot find a solution to this, I will weigh my options elsewhere." I have no idea what kind of person your boss is, but that is what I would say to my last boss. My last boss would either filter out the employees over about two months' time, or else she would move me to a different position. Bosses don't want to lose someone who supports them. If they take it as offensive that you would question their hiring practices, it's time to go. Your other option is to stay unhappy. Up to you~

I'm just below the assistant manager. So we have store manager, assisttant manager, and then it would be me and two other people.

Unfortunately, though, I am usually put in charge of the "gaggle of pigeons they just hired." Because I work more closely with them, though, I feel like I'm in a better position to judge their performance.

To the credit of the idiots we just hired, they were poorly trained. But above and beyond that, they are just idiots.

My plan for tonight is to approach my store manager and say these things:

1. I'm worried about Chris. Despite working here for almost three months, he has yet to grasp even the most simple tasks. He has to be so closely supervised that he is getting in the way of all the other things that need to be done. Other people have come to me with this concern, and I think it needs to be adressed asap.

2. Tom is being cruel to me. He talks shit about me behind my back and I will not put up with being treated like garbage.

3. You threatened to fire Julie and out of all the new people she is the only one to actually do her job correctly. What was the reasoning behind this?

4. I will not do work for free on my own time any more.

5. The assistant manager is creating chaos anytime he works. He is above me, and when I work with him, I end up having to supervise him.

These are my five key points. I have many other points, but they will only be brought up if necessary.

well princess I would talk to her and see how you can come up to fix the plm but alot of time they dont want to talk about it.

I have my boss too in making bouncer house that kids love in birthday partys, partys, and others. Name of the job was Einflatables.com. I do talk my boss about workers that give us plms and we talk to them how we can make them happy and make this work happen, not hearing lame excuses that we get.

It used to be rental that you can rent the bouncer for fun and I used to take 6 of those 250 lbs. bouncer that rolled up with blower and tarp in back of my truck. I loved doing this running all over place for people that needed for partys and I make about 300 to 500 dollars a day plus tips which only happen on sat and sun.

I also use to cut the material and that one was fun also. I would love to go back to work for them and even my boss would take me in but why I dont work there well I have family now and I need to make more monies to put roof and food in this house so thats why I drive trucks now which I like to do.

well the point is talk to your boss and see what can be done to fix the plms. When you get a worker that say excuses why they cant do certain jobs, well I would ether teach them or show them the door and look for another that willing to do the job when told.

when i was like 3 months into my last job, there was a mid-level boss lady who was mean to a lot of people and didn't do any work of her own...so i wrote her up myself, handed it to upper-management, and included 3 sexual things she said even though im not really offended by them. she had been with the company 20 years and was gone within weeks. i was the company hero, no one liked her. ha, i remember one of the things she whispered to me, (she was a large, old, short, fat, wrinkled black lady): "I have on pink panties."

He lost 300 dollars out of the till one night.

A couple of weeks later he was working and failed to notice 2000 dollars worth of merchandise being stolen.

Then, a bunch of the girls mentioned that they were uncomfortable with his sexual advances. Like, he would come up behind me and start tickling my back.

Now, he is a little gossip queen talking shit about everyone behind their backs.

I have no idea why he still works with us! He is the biggest computer geek I have ever met in my life, so I think people feel sorry for him.

If you don't absolutely need the job to pay for your living, I'd say screw it. Just give your managers the reasons and ask for their opinion. But remember to be "reasonable". The worst thing you can do is put your personal feeling into the communication when you try to work something out.

I've been working for my company for 5 years now. I wouldn't say I love my job but it pays the bill. Right now, we really need to be stable to prepare for next year. So even though I get crap from work, I still have to do it and put up with it. It's all about where your priority is I guess.

Yeah I dont understand how he hasnt been fired.

He lost 300 dollers. He was did the close and the next day there was 300 dollers missing. Theres no question about who had access and who stole it. Infact he even payed the money back from his own pocket saying he didnt do it but he didnt want to look like a thief. (er something like that). If that isnt guilty I dont know what is.

He also managed to not notice 2 people with duffle bags (is that right princess?) fill up with movies and stuff and walk out the back door (through the employee only area) a few times. I mean come on!

How does a person like that not get fired? Yet a good friend of princess and I gets fired because he has a sassy additude.

Big deal, he was still good at his job.

I'm sure he's an out and out fuck up, but there's nothing wrong with being a nerd or liking a computers ( even excessively)... I mean I understand its a turn off to the ladies, but stilll. Having a hobby shouldn't be a negative point~
