Ok.. I find merit points to be totally odd. I finally hit 75 a few days ago, so I decided to go ahead and get ahold of some merit points. I finally got my first today (and only 5k until next woot^^) so I warp back to my mog house, and upgrade my Max HP. However.. when I check my HP... I see it hasn't changed. I asked a GM what the hell was going on (though for once in a blue moon they might be able to answer a question), then she told me to check a link on the POL site doesn't even exist. Now I don't know wtf is going on.. anyone got any info on merit points?

I feel like a new again :P asking questions lol, perhaps this could be useful for people approaching 75 and wanting merit points though. Pardon if theres already a thread about this... its 7 AM and I'm not exactly working correctly yet :|

Check that you actually did the upgrade. There are like 3 different confirmation boxes that all appear ot different points on the screen, lol. Good way would be to check if you still have the merit point (1/10) if you spent it it should be gone (0/10).

Also, the stat upgrade doesn't actually show on the main status screen anywhere. (Not as a +stat anyway, the final result still updates accordingly)

You can tell what stats you have by reading the numbers next to them on the Merit Point status screen. ie: instead of 0, it should say 1 (and then NEXT 2 P) near it.

It's a huge EXP drain btw... Sure, you only need 10k exp for +10HP, but for an extra +10HP you need 20k exp (2P) then for another +10HP you need 30k exp (3P)...

In total you need 150k exp for +50HP (the max) lol.

Well, I made sure of that I used the merit point. I just don't see the +10 HP, lol. I plan to do all HP probably, seems most suited for HNM tanking. I don't think -4% on the critical hit rate from enemies would make too big of a difference. With all my max HP+ gear I had 1445 before I used the merit point. After I used the merit point.. still had 1445. Thought it was maybe once that would've only been inactive on a low level job perhaps, but I checked that, and as BRD/WAR i only had like 31 (at level 1), dont think the default for that is 21, so I'm still fairly confused by it, lol

I got one merit point from doing CoP missons so much. Back before they fixed the bug that maed level 75 players get merit points and not xp when leveled down.

Just use it for 10MP, you know you want to.

Or use it for Enmity-1, useful when I'm tanking. :P

GMs can officially go die. I asked a 2nd GM about merit points, and he told me to go to a page on the main site that isn't there.... :x I say we get severus to bomb the GM building...

The + stat ones are the worst. I had + 1 chr and + 1 dex when I could have instead + mad skills or another 30 mp and what not.

Anyway I didn' really mind Merits after they added the new stuff they are slightly more worthwhile. But by that point I didn't feel like playing so i never fully explored those options.

the merit point is base on lv75, so lv75 is +10HP, lv1 is 0.00000......., but if you used the point and no +10HP, only can call GM, then GM will tell you he cant help and give you tech center tel no. and ask you directly report to the center lol

I mostly used the merit points for my twinks.

+1 dex and + 2% crit chance and some other small bonuses are pretty handy for lower level characters.

And the Mp apply every 10 levels.

So if you had max mp its + 10 mp at lvl 10, +20 at 20, +30 at 30, +40 at 40 and +50 mp at 50. A pretty sigtnificant bonus when playing your lowbie mage twink... particularly for us elvaan.

Yeah of course.

The stats too. basically each level of a given merit skill you have activates in ten level intervals when playing lowbie jobs.

So how exactly would +str or +dex work over each set of levels?

I'd use it for STR, crit, emnity, and just spread it around those I guess.

If you Have 3 levels of dex, and 2 levels of str at 75 and switch to lower jobs it works liek thus.

If job level is > lvl 10 +1 str/dex
>lvl 20 +2 str/dex ( total)
>lvl 30 +3dex + 2 str ( total)
