I'm so cool I am spending all Friday, most of Saturday, and all Sunday doing homework. I'm working on a political science essay, and since a lot of people on here seem to know a bit about politics, I thought I'd post my topic so people could feel free to post some thoughts and suggestions. Although it's Canadian politics, the question is also relevent to U.S politics.
Here it is:
"Have the courts gone 'too far' in their interpretation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms? For some commentators, the judiciary has merely deepened the 'liberal' dimension of our liberal democracy by strengthening our commitment to protecting minorities against the whims of the majority. For others, the courts have eroded the 'democratic' in liberal democracy by granting unwarrented privileges to special interests or by systematically undermining the will of elected legislatures. Develop an arguement about this question, providing concrete evidence to support your position."
