I just bought a nice 20" LCD Flatscreen monitor, but my video card is quite outdated... Any ideas on a videocard to get, that will do my new monitor justice?

I would say at least a ATI Radeon 9800 256MB. That's got some really good frame times on FFXI, it's not the best for other games but it's a great low price card to FFXI. Other than that, the ATI X800 i'm sure is more than sufficient^^.

Nvidia 6800GT

I'm a true ATI fan but I bought this just becuase and I love it. I have a 9600XT, 9800 Pro, 9500 Pro, and the 6800GT and I have to say that this card is god-like. I run FFXI at 2048x2048 background with all the textures pushed alllll the way up and I keep AA on 4X and AF on 4X. It makes the game so much more enjoyable and with that card I get zero lag from graphics. (Jeuno lag is a different story all together though  )

My ati has been a great card for over a year. Has worked great with XP pro, XP Home, Win 2003 Server, Red Hat 9, and currently Suse

Here are some tests for a few games

well, the ati 9800pro is a decent card these days, i ran Dy-San the other night with AA and AF all the way up with decent lag (1024x768btw) but i would go with the newer cards personally... they will be better for obvious reasons
