I plan on adding a third hard drive (SATA) sometime in the near future, but I want to mirror my boot drive and basically turn this third drive into an exact mirrored image of my original boot drive. My first IDE HDD boot drive I believe is starting to fail (making some fascinating sounds with BSOD every few times I move the PC case around, BSOD stops after the PC tower has been stationary after awhile). Anyhow I want this third drive to basically become my primary boot disk after I transer everything from my original 40GB failing IDE HDD to this third one.

Anyway, I don't believe WinXP has a utility that can help me do this, so does anyone know a method or relatively cheap HDD software utility that can provide this service?

Please no spam (ike, aleks, etc.) I want to keep this thread as orderly as possible in case I need to refer to it later.

I usually use Western Digital Hard drives. I'm pretty sure (at least on WD start up disks there's an option to transfer everything from an old hard drive to a new one)

<=== Has 2 100 Gigs and a 120 Gig WD drives

You can actually do it in windows XP without any extra software, but I'm not sure how reliable it is.

Go to Disk Management in Administrative tools. If you right click on a partition, there should be an option to make it a mirror of another partition on the system.

I'm not 100% sure on these instructions, but I know it is possible.

Thanks! I don't think I'll need the full/commercial version. The Demo looks like it can create a raw image to another drive. As long as it can image everything, including the operating system, and make the drive bootable then this should be all I need.
