Umm, wth is going on with the price on this? Before Christmas it was a few hundred K, now its 1.5 mil. Do people not realize that fewer whm's will now have this spell, and people will have to settle for R2's? I mean seriously, I like to have decent gear and be caught up on spells, but this is ridiculous. From my point of view, a few hundred exp to someone else is not worth 1.5 mil to me, its that simple. So the people who are jacking up the price on these are not just hurting whm's who want to get this, but everyone in the Ifrit community who would not benefit from R3's. I think it is particularly shortsighted of these people to jack the price on this. The difference between this spell and high priced gear is that these will never be reintroduced into the market, so I understand how supply might have some effect on the price. However, as more high level people quit, the availability of a whm with R3 will also diminish. I think this is flat out stupid, so now I will have to put a BCNM run together if I ever want it because there is no way I would buy it at its current price level. This sucks...

You realize on other servers price goes up to 3 mil? THis is actually a pretty rare drop, only drops in 3 places iirc, so why shouldnt it have the price tag equal to that of other rare items? Whms generally can get away with just "Decent" gear, dont have to buy shit like melees (Snipers, Haubergeon, etc), so one or two expensive spells shouldnt be something to cry about.

Actually I did not realize that other servers had it even higher. Its nice to know that other people are getting screwed too, hehe >.<
My argument was really that, although I realize it is a pretty rare drop, only a couple at a time on AH, that fewer whm's would have the spell because it is not cost efficient for the mediocre benefit it provides.
And although whm's can "get away with" having lesser equipment, it would be nice to have that gil to spend on better equipment rather than on this spell.

Yea Ifrit is really lucky in the reason that we are one of the older / more established economies...

EX. I got my Millionaire's Desk for around 250k... Where as all the other servers have them around 1.5-2 mil... Ifrit is one of the few servers where it is mass produced. :)

Granted we are/were when we started a year ago on a more dominate JPN server, but I'm happy about that. Looking at other servers and the prices they deal with I can live with it.

Heh that mediocre benefit is pretty much the only thing keeping you from being replaced by a RDM.

Heh, 15k. I could afford that :) And as far as the cost benefit thing I was talking about, I was referring to the difference between R2 and R3, and as far as I know no rdm has R2. And thanks for putting up the info about where to find mobs that drop it. I will have to get some help for that one, lol.

Personally, I have to stand with those people who feel that Raise III is overpriced. I understand that it's a rare drop, and only comes from three places, none of which could ever be considered "easy".

I also understand that though gil isn't the most important thing in this game, it does rank up there quite high, especially with some people. That's the way it is in any MMO. There's really no way that it could be otherwise. That being said, I find myself doing certain things in this game for different reasons than others would admit to.

Take gods and HNMs, for instance. Rare/EX drops aside, I don't really ever go to fight any God or HNM (I haven't done many non-God HNMs yet) thinking, "OMG drop the Super-Mirrored-Reflective-Sparkly-Shiny Cloth, I wantz teh gil!!!!!". I go for the experience. If I win lots on anything that I cannot use myself, I'd rather see it go to someone who could use it, than go into my pocket. Gil that ends up in my pocket tends to end up in my friends' hands, anyways, so I guess it wouldn't matter much.

Which is why you won't see the Raise III scrolls I won up on the AH. The first went to someone who deserved it. The second went to a personal friend who hasn't been leveling WHM **BECAUSE** of the price of Raise III.

So yeah. 2 x Raise III = 100k gil for Aalan. Well, plus the undying loyalty and future monetary assistance, should I require it, of a personal friend. :)

Remind me to reference this if anyone ever calls me greedy. :)

Just dont buy it
Raise 3 is a spell that is use exclusively on -other people- so theres no reason for you to buy it if it doesnt help you

I'd like to think that when something drops from a HNM, you don't "win" gil from any items. The LS wins gil, the LS as a whole gets richer, and in turn, this helps everyone.

CKD killed Zha'Da Adamantking a while ago and I "won" a Raise III scroll, which sold for 1 mil. My personal belief is that scroll did not really "belong" to me, it belonged to CKD, since everyone helped kill it.

I feel that "gil" or "material" drops are no different than when an expensive equipable item drops, like a Cassie Earring. I'm currently wearing a CKD Cassie Earring, it's not mine, it belongs to the LS, because the LS worked together to get it.

If I was to spend that gil I "won" on gear, it helps me do my job better for the LS, so the gil does benefit the LS like that. But instead, what I did was enquire what craft's our LS was lacking, and I'm now using that gil to level Leathercrafting, since we have nobody else in the LS taking it high level.

I don't know, I think I'm going to get a lot of "not nice" feedback for sounding selfish, somehow. I just feel like it's not my right to use gil from a HNM an entire group of people helped kill for my own benefit alone.

Personally, I don't agree with just "giving" away a Raise III scroll dropped from a HNM, because of the above. However, I do agree Raise III is a rediculous price and WHMs shouldnt be "forced" to pay it. But the reason the price is so high, is because there are WHMs that are prepared to pay it.

I don't know which way to swing, lol. I don't know how rare Raise III is from the Kindred Pot BC, but it's winnable at 70, and thats where most WHMs should go get it. It feels just like Erase on a much larger scale, lol.

wouldn't you like to be completely assured that every 70+ white mage has Raise 3? as of right now, you cannot be assured that.

Ket... if he won the /random's (which he did) then he should be able to do whatever he wants with them... it's not equipment.

You put your up for sale and your using the proceeds to help with crafting.

He's using the proceeds from his winning lots to help out friends... What do you think I do when I borrow the club? You gonna outlaw me from borrowing that to help others cause it's the LS item?

I just don't see exactly where your going with your arguement since you always take both sides.

I think the main point is that this is a lot of money to pay for something that only everyone else can benefit from.

Maybe all the whms that end up having to pay so much for it should just start charging people for r3.

"This upcoming r3 is going to cost you 1000 gil please. Your generous donation will be used to regain the money I spent in order to buy this spell for use by you and so many others. Have a nice day."

The reason I try to go both ways, is because like i said, people are going take offense to anything I say no matter which side I take, and I prefer not to bother people.

Since I'd sold one of these not long ago I thought I might as well have my say. In turn, I'll have people attacking me, which I don't take very well.

So I'm gonna leave and stay away from this thread.

I think he's helping the LS in a different way. Instead of equipment wise or crafting wise... He's helping reputation wise. I mean really if you got a 1.5 mil item for free or really cheap from someone in CKD wouldn't you defend CKD a bit? It's just a different way of showing people CKD cares.

If I were in Aalan's shoes I would like to say I would do the same thing... but I don't think I would in all honesty...

Hats off to you Aalan. Your a bigger Mithra than I'll ever be.

i watched the price of R3 go from 50k to 350k in the week i was going to buy it, i actually ended up buying it for 250k or something cuz the price dipped. would i have paid 1mil+? no because i dont have that kinda money. would i have gotten a few friends together and whored the BC to get it the same way i got erase, yep. i think its fair thats its an expensive item, heres the order of the scrolls i wanted bad.... 1) Raise 3 2) Erase 3) Reraise 3 <cuz i realized biting RR2 sucked>
whm is a cheap class to play, even with the scroll being 1.5mil all our scrolls are f-ing cheap (besides erase and raise 3), and our gear matters a lot less than any other class, all we need is MP really. so we pay for it in the form of a scroll or 2

a bit off topic... isn't RR3 very easy to get?
I think it drop off form the Goblin WHM (Goblin Alchemist) pretty often.

Raise 3 will drop in price as soon as I get enough gear to solo Kirin... just kidding
