Feel free to bug me. Having musical conversations is one of my favorite things to do, seriously. Been studying theory for 6 years, blah blah hurray for resume.

As far as goals go. I'd to step away from the community college enviornment and go to a university. I don't particullarly enjoy the CC enviornment because well- it's not very challenging. Also, most of the people I go to school with are soccer moms who had a mid-life crisis and are going to school for nursing, making it difficult to meet new people.

I'd also like to restore my social life a bit more. I've sort of been isolated over the past 6 months especially playing FFXI and talking to people on the game, but I'd like to at least sit back and chat with some high school friends and how they're doing.

Also, I'd like to actually sit down and finish a composition, lol. Inbetween random intervals for HNMs or when I'm just idling in Jeuno or whatever I sit down at my piano and I've got about 9081273981273 ideas, melodies, etc. I got my piano for christmas, and its probably the best gift I've been given, perhaps it's a sign as well haha.

I have a couple of goals...

I want to put more effort into my school work. I manage to get good grades, but many things come out last minute and I hate the feeling of having to rush.

I also would like to get good sleep.. I usually sleep 11:30-12:30am on school days and wake up @ 6-6:30 am :? . Most of the time I feel like shit in the morning.

I also want a good idea of what I'm going to do after high school. I feel kind of scared because I don't have the slightest clue what profession I'd like. Atleast I know what I hate.

I do Cross Country and Track @ school. So therefore, I want to try and make it a habit to go running every weekend..but I doubt that'll happen.

Here comes personal stuff.. I want to find a guy worth my time. Not like I think I'm better than everyone but if we don't get along great then it would save us both time, right? Shallow, no thanks. Sense of humor, YES PLEASE.

I really really want to get my iPod to work I don't know why it isn't :(

I love music, and I've been playing the violin for 6-7 years now. Although I really want to become a good piano player. Not like a professional pianist but I'd like to sit down and play something beautiful whenever I please. I guess I could with violin but I don't know why the piano appeals more to me.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Edit: I used "I" a lot

my main goal...i guess would actually be dragged out through the next 4+ years. I want to do well in college. I want to have a good career when I'm done. This fall was my first semester...and well, my grades were not as high as I wanted. They were decent..and i didn't fail any classes heh...but I know that i can do better if I just put the time into it. I promised my parents I would do well in college, and i dont want to disappoint them (though that would be a usefull way to get back at them for driving me crazy so much :) )

i would like to become more of a social person...it's not going to be easy though. I just really clam up when im around people that I dont know very well :? This one is going to take some time.(Anyone here that thinks they might apply to a university soon come to Penn State and make this easier for me!! lol 8) ...though i might be transferring somewhere else next year...back in virginia...too expensive out of state :( )

Also, while i am here at college, I need to figure out what it is exactly that i want to do with my life, what kind of job do i want to have?

i guess meeting a special girl or two wouldnt hurt either

.............
side note:
Arrow you are still in high school?! lol, i had you pegged at a year or two older than me hehe

Man, *digs his hole another 6 inches*

Cyn, the thing is, I'd think you'd get along great with people at a CC, regardless of age. Most of the people I'm talking about don't even want to bother talking to people, let alone "young whippasnappas" like myself.

I love a girl who can play the Piano or any instrument.

Princess played the flute for like 100 years and I was always proud of her for that. She really wanted to play the Violin. I remember I rented her a Violin for like 2 months but she never really got into it.

Her newest thing was the Piano. So, for her birthday I got her a piano and she started lessons. In a few months she was playing so well I thought she was trying to trick my by using the auto player (its a digital piano but very nice, its got weighted keys and all that good stuff)

Its a big ocean out there and im drowning slowly.

My goals for the new year are as follows.

1. Bring my grades back up. I used to make all A's with few B's. (Yes, still in high school.) Since I started playing FFXI, it seems I've made more B's than A's. (Just made a D on this report card and awaiting my beating :( )

2. Become more social. When it comes to making friends, I'm alot like Yarr. I'm what you might call uber shy. I always seem to resort to not talking at all than trying to make friends.

3. Become more reliable. I'm asked for help alot, and seem to agree most the time, but when it comes down to it I seem to always forget/be invovled with something else.

4. Help more often. This kinda ties back into my number 3. Again, I'm asked to help often, but sometimes I think only of myself and not what would help others greatly. Going through FFXI, I've gotten alot of help from very nice people. When I leave and even now, I want people to know me for what I've done, not for what I haven't.

5. Get a job. I see alot of people posting this goal here. I just turned 16 in November, but don't get my license until March :( . I plan to apply for a job or two a couple weeks before I get my license, but it's always easier said than done lol.

Well that's all I can think of atm and looking over my shoulder every two minutes to see if my teacher is coming doesn't help much lol.

I wouldnt really say Im shy.

I just dont like to deal with the unknown. So I just kinda sit back and observe. Once I know what im in for I let lose and go crazy.

I get along with people very well. I never have people who dont like me or hate me. Ive had countless people tell me I should become an actor. Its the charasmatic effect I guess. I think since I dated princess for five years my social skills went down. For a while I called princess my "social meat shield" haha.

Its going to be an exciting year. Ive got one person already im trying to make friends with!

Well I wasn't trying to imply that you were shy, I just said that i can relate to you and I was the shy one :P . About the actor thing.. I myself find you rather hilarious lol. By reading the forums and going on that Promy, I found you to be a rather enjoyable person, I don't care what Ruby says :P.

1. Work things out completly with my ex/kinda girlfriend. This is already begining to happen :) . I guess I need to try my best to remain patient and not try to rush things back to how they used to be (this is very hard for me to do but in my eyes i think i've been doing an amazing job compared to how I used to act) and to not be a smothering turd hehe

2. Start thinking more about how my actions effect others by not always thinking whats in it for me.
I have already begun this also and I am proud of how good I have done so far with this. It makes me sick to my stomach when I think back on how I used to act and I see now the pain I have caused others.
(see #1 :( )

3. I've lost 20+ lbs in the past couple months which puts me back at what I weighed in highschool WOOHOO! So I want to start a set routine of sit-ups, push-ups, squats, etc to simply tone my gut/flab up a bit.

4. Get out of my depression.

5. Be more social. Like yarr i dont talk when i meet new people i just take mental notes, but unlike him i dont usually open up to the point where i can joke around with new people until after a very long while. I'd like to break myself of this.

6. Finally pick a main job and stick with it. Then join/start a perma party

Man college helps a lot for being social. I used to be pretty anti-social, but now I'm pretty damn outgoing. Hopefully some more FFXI can get me back to my "omg people hide!" phase.

The thing is... I can be social, I can make friends, I can be the center of attention.....but I just don't like to. It's not something I enjoy. I'd much rather sit around and watch futurama and play chess and talk with a few good buddies rather than go out to a club or meet up with a ton of people and try to pick up girls. That's why I like FFXI, I can just sit and chill and not have to deal with going out and being social.

The trick is balancing the two... you gotta go out every once in a while, and sometimes I'm just stuck to the damn game and I cancel plans with my good friends to get my subjob items....

The violin is a pretty long process to learn. It's all about technique. I was never completely satisfied with my playing until about 4-5 years. Then again, I started in with a school program, so there wasn't much individual student attention at all. I don't think that slowed me down by much though. Except for the fact that when I started around 9 years old I never practiced.. and I didn't have lessons everyday until after 2 years(only had once a week). I was young though and didn't see the benefit in being able to play any instrument at all. Things really got better for me when I took private lessons. :-({|= :D

When I first read this topic, I was like, heh another one of those New Year's resolution lists. (Actually when I first read the title, I thought Yarr's first goal should be spelling improvement, hehe jk.) Then when I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I don't make it a habit to delve into the real lives of people in this game. But this thread really got me thinking about why that is. It was neat to learn about the people in this game, and what they are doing irl. Many people in this game do not know much about what I'm like outside the game. So my goals will reflect much of what I'm now doing.

1. Get better at my job. I am a high school teacher, have been for three years now, and I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels now. Part of it has been switching schools this year, that was kind of tough, but it's hard when you really do not feel like you are getting through at all or that anybody cares what you have to say.

2. Get better at my other job. I am also a coach, for football and basketball. I found out after one year as a head football coach, that I am much better suited to being an assistant, but it was a tough lesson going through a season with just one win and feeling like a failure.

3. Get back in shape. It's hard to be in charge of training athletes, and feel like a hypocrite in terms of my own health. On the plus side, I have free access to training facilities, so that won't be a problem.

4. Be more organized. If I have had any problem that has dogged me throughout my life, it is disorganization. I have made strides in the past few years, but I still need to get on this harder.

That's about it. Let the jokes about teachers commence. :)

No joke here about teachers. Teaching is a tough profession, with not enough credit. Especially, today when so many parents have stopped "raising" their children, and expect school to do that too. I don't think I would have the patience to do what you do, so don't sell yourself short.

As for not being the head coach -- Life is full of lessons. Only by experience can we learn. Don't look at it as a failure, look at it as a growth -- you've learned something about yourself that can only make you better.

Thanks for the pep talk :) It was just one of those days when I posted that. I do know that teaching is sometimes a thankless job, but it is also a very important job. Thanks again for your kind words, Cyn.
