After the update , i couldnt log on so i deleted all the play online stuff on my Ps2. Then i tried to reinstall it but i kept getting the "Cannot Read Disk" shit over and over again.

This problem is like the same as mine , i tried putting tape around it but it didnt work or i just did it wrong being afraid it would mess up my Ps2 or ffxi disk. So far it looks like im going to have to quit and give up my 50 days play time not even getting to 75 ](*,)

sounds like you ps2 laser is dirty. Happened to me and was very easy to fix.

well i calld the ffxi place or whatever it is and he said to erase everything and just to re install it. Character doesnt get deleted though

Jakub when u had that problem were u able to run other disks and not get the cant read disk thing?

Haha, mine does that still. Thats why I am glad I don't play any other games on mine. My friend gave me his so I just play other games on that. But yea, My PS2 won't even run disks. Took me a few hours just to load FFXI when i first got it. CoP was another story >.<

u can also try calling sony if u didnt open ur ps2 tell them it wont run discs.
im pretty sure they fix that for free

A lot of old version PS2s simply cannot read blue back discs. Playstation's response to this is something like [That's too bad] so hopefully you have money to buy another PS2. Don't buy the 'new' (super small) PS2 either because the hard drive doesn't fit in it.

well guys i got ps2 to read disk
now when i i try to install ffxi says i must connect to internet for a few
and when i try to i get error POL 1038
bah...
