I'm sick and tired of gilsellers in this game. I've gone to [GM]s so many times, but to no avail. So today I took screenshots of 1. A gilseller admitting he and 11 others gilsell, and 2. A [GM] conversation about it. I used cut&paste to make it all fit, but I also have the original screenshots.

Any thoughts?

omg that's great i've never seen a GM act that way before

GMs are usually rational in the same irrational way as this one was, but this one was breaking a rule and acting human 0.o he even joked around about being a gilseller... i woulda blisted him just to check if it work on GMs

considering he said he plays the game as well, you never know

let's hunt him down and see if we can befriend him to ban gilsellers

can't blame GM's for anything. they have no power and will lose their jobs if they break the rules SE and Sony online Entertainment set for them to follow. From reading many conversations with GM's, it seems that many of them play the game on their own time too. So, while they totally agree with us on this issue, they still can't do anything.

if SE/SOE allowed GM's to just ban people based on circumstantial evidence, then within a short time players would begin to attempt to abuse the system.

well...i wish GM's could ban whoever they want whenever...but then someone who doesnt like me might try to abuse this system by lying to a GM...who knows what could happen and in what magnitude?

I think the GM made all valid points....

you can't punish those players by prosecuting them based off entrapment~

B/c that will eventually become abused by other players.... and in the end it won't solve the problem... it will just make gilsellers learn to refuse all questions.

And, he made a very good point about how he can't do anything based on circumstantial evidence (such as tracking AH stuff and money), b/c that would most likely catch a few innocent ppl too.... and that is worse than missing the gilsellers.

And he is right... the best you can do is just complain to SE... but in the end there is nothing to really be done, unless SE starts to sue IGE.com (which they probably can't cuz like he siad... its international copyright infringement issues...).....

So.... the best option? do what WoW does and make items all Ext. on equipping them. (you cant resell good items) or for the better items, Ext. on pickin them up.

(The problem is then the AH has nothing but crap on it most of the time, since a lot of ppl just keep the equipment they find rather than selling it.

I don't understand. The gil seller admitted to selling gil. Now that SE knows he is a suspected gil seller, can't they investigate his account, and find out if he is tranferring massive amounts of gil? I mean, isn't there a money trail that SE can follow? It sounds like the GM and SE are over-complicating things.

Or maybe these gil selling companies have some sort of influence over SE and other MMORPG companies? I doubt that companies like IGE are that powerful, but it's a possibility.

To be honest, I think SE is just too lazy and dont think its worth the legal issues (or lawyer bills) to prosecute an international case (SE is based in Japan) for international copyright infringment....

UNLESS... there are enough complaints from their player base taht they think player subscription would be in danger b/c of the gilsellers...

Fine, if it's illegal for me to "entrap," then get the actual US or state govt to do it. or..

Hell, they're Squarenix, they can rewrite the code any time they feel like it. Make it only possible to transfer 500,000 gil a week via AH Mailbox. Make the drop rate on amemet skins descrease the more you kill him over a given interval of time.

This is the same kind of sh*t i experienced at my last employer. I would identify a problem and come up with several solutions, which may or may not be good. I would present them at the managerial meetings, and instead of everyone saying, "Yes John good point, this is a problem, now let's all brainstorm on ideas of fixing it," they'd say stuff like the GM said, "No, no, and no. Can't do this, can't do that. Now let's get some coffee." You know what? You're a [GM]. You're a middleman. Do what you're paid to do and INVESTIGATE the situation. Hello. Hi. I already know he isn't gonna say a damn word to his superiors. He probably doesn't even know who his superiors are; SE is shrouded in secrecy.

But no Tooyooo/Cherie, I don't think he handled it right. I do think we can blame him. He should've passed my information on to whomever he reports to. I got names, they need to write these names down, they need to tally up how many times people have reported these gilselling assholes, they need to INVESTIGATE rather than make me do it. I've already gotten a damn admission, but now he says the only thing I can do is sit back and wait for gilsellers to come to me? What a joke. Leave the investigation to them. It's not my job. It IS however, their job. We have no options besides going to [GM]s because emailing POL doesnt do crap. I've tried, as have others.

As for Tooyooo's idea of making all good items EX, there is still the issue of how does one save up enough gil for things like chocobos, timeless hourglasses, buying from vendors, money to NPCs for quests, etc etc. Work on that, that's good you made a suggestion. That's what we need. People with suggestions.

Well to be honest I didn't really provide a suggestion... I just ripped off of what WoW does...

All in all I find WoW to be an OKAY MMORPG.... I like FFXI better theme wise, and class wise etc...

but WoW basically took all the bad techinical aspects of FFXI and fixed them. (Which makes it less frustrating than FFXI).

I'm not trying to start the 1 billiionth WoW vs FFXI debate here... just saying maybe FFXI should look at how WoW dealt with techincal problems like gilselling, hard to get exp pts etc. and maybe copy them a bit?

I just wish they also copied WoW and did the whole "no zone" thing.... man the world seems a lot bigger and cooler without zonelines. :)

the most effective way to tell SE we are tired of this shit, is to freeze our accounts... all of North America and Europe... itll all add up, hopefully a few million dollars in lost sales...

In the eye of the corporate view... you guys are still paying me the money for the service even with the gilsellers, y should we care? then when they end up losing a little less than half their accounts... happend w/ rosa parks and the bus boycotts. of course, this probably could never happen

i hate all those gil sellers...but they are no worse than the fish botters and gil buyers...

rid the game of all three groups and things might improve...

The most ridiculous thing comes when a person buys gil to buy something that the gil seller camped and put up. Never ending circle.

Now, as it would seem, the only people who have any ability to provide solid evidence are the gil buyers themselves, and they aren't stopping SHIT.

I am sorry cherie and im sorry tooyooo i have to COMPLETELY agree what whisp says. Last time a GM told me "What if I called you a gilseller" because i reported someone. It's tupid. GMs only have to press a button to ban someone. They say its a complex matter but it is quite simple. Gilsellers get banned what will they do sue SE for baning an account? In SEs rules they have the right to ban anyone they feel necessary and they know as we do these people are gilsellers. After spending months in one area hunting the same NM what the f*ck is going on, i'm sure they arn't farming for a kraken club. GMS are getting paid to sit on there ass. Vanish you made a point GMs are people like us but they have to step up. Those amemite skin prices keep going up because of these gilsellers and YOU are paying for it since you are a leather crafter as long as those who want the mantles. Think of us as a family we have to help each other we can't let gilsellers rule us. I've recently seen froso and badada take phatnom worm and the gilsellers have been leveling some are even 65+. Amemite is lvl 70 NM Phantom Worm is lvl 70 so if these gilsellers can kill lvl 70 mobs it will be the HNMs next and i'm not lying they might be stupid enough to attempt this. My simple point GMs have the power to do w/e they want SE doesn't even have to find out.

This topic is probly brought up with GM's everyday, and honestly they can't do a damn thing about it with would solid evidence. A GM can only do so much.

And honestly the whole AH inflation fo outragieous prices, pfft you can't tell me its just the gilsellers. Greedy non-gil selling people will put there items up for sale too. You can't honestly tell me if you got well for instance a free extra Emp. Hairpin that you would not sell it on the AH for 600k (what its goign for atm.) the point is the inflation isnt just the gilsellers its greedy people as well. the only way posible to make this inflation stop is to start making some of thoughs expencive and rare/good items Ex (like tooyoo's WoW suggestion).

So just don't Blame the gilsellers for everythign that has happened, and SE made it even worse with the whole new AH tax crap by hoping people will lower the prices because of the tax increase, but no people raised there Sellings hoping to make more (what a big backfire).

I'm not at all supporting Gilselling but so far out of all my NM's experiences and stuff i have had no problem with them, if you have such a problem with them for camping NM's ask them if you can simply get one drop or w/e most of the Gilsellers i have encountered are very nice. cobont i have partyed with and he is on my friends list, because he sells gil (no solid proof) wont make him any less of a person.

Also if SE was really smart they would sell gil themselves not only would it increase productivity of this game but also more money in there pockets, i'm sure alot of you would disaggree with me on that point tho

Im not trying insulting anyone or anything and respect your opinions just sharing what i feel is what is happening

thats just my 2 cents

If they dont want to fix gilselling, they should fix at least overcamping. No players should have the last 300 cassie earing, or amemet skin. Same with the last 20 Nidhogg

yea I'm actually personally confused as to why KFC keeps camping the same damn thing. And if certain rare ex items drop that they can't use, why not invite someone in that could use it......if only some of these things could be like the stupid subjob items in dunes where PTs would let u in to lot items things would be a lot friendlier and it probably wouldn't be camped so heavily later

i'd sell the thing at whatever the AH price is, true,
but,
the reason the prices have gone up is because of gilbuyers. the value of gil has gone down due to the amount of gil flowing steadily into the game. 600k is nothing to people who buy gil. so yes i'd sell it at whatever price it says. on the other hand i definitely wouldn't buy such an overpriced item for myself. emp hairpin is 300k to me as it used to be, and i wouldn't pay more. but you aren't going to fix the problem by going to the 100s of gilbuyers. you fix the problem by targeting the obvious gilsellers on every server.

I think this is a much bigger problem than just the gil seller issue. They need to randomize timers a bit more, and possibly add some kind of instanced alternative that could give you a chance to get the same loot. Maybe a 99 kindred seal bcnm for King Behemoth or something equivalent.
