So you've had a day or so to check out the new update. Sometimes on paper things seem a lot better than they actually are in excecution. For example, "Chat filters have been refined" sounds really good until you are browsing at the AH and see

Yes, I know you can turn this off but it was still odd to see, haha. Divine veil is pretty cool but is something I probably won't use except for god fights/dynamis. I'm not an alchemist but the "Alchemic Ensorcellment" key item also seems sort of useless (not even sure if anyone uses any enchanted items besides warp cudgel anyway).

I still haven't tried out a lot of the big stuff that was added: Ballista updates, the AF coatcheck person, ENM fights, fishing updates. If you've tried these things out, or other stuff, what do you think so far? Were they what you expected, and are they good or bad?

Fishing sucks. And no not because of botting, but because I can't catch a damn thing now. Blame it on my poor hand/eye coordination. Not only that, but my woodworking leveling method just crashed since I can't seem to break my rod, only my line.

The good part does seem to be that the botters have all crashed and burned.

I agree with the alchemy item. I spent an hour spamming the recepie NPC and got some new recepies, but nothing that I would actually ever buy.

Lvl 19 H2H weapon - enchantment silence? HAH!

For the rest, I haven't tried enough out, but so far I think the update is more good than bad. The only real nerf was to fishing NPC prices, and IMO it needed a nerf badly. Too much gil was entering the economy through both legit and botted fish.

Overall I am definitely happy with the update, I was just wondering what other people thought. Getting stuff added, even if it kind of sucks, is still better than getting nothing new.

It seems like the biggest 'nerf' is fishing... I've heard that it's a lot easier to lose a lure/bait with the new system, and also it takes much longer to fish. Good news for the economy, bad news for honest (and dishonest) fishermen.

I still don't have a mannequin at all so I can't start my own museum just yet haha. When you go to the mannequin store do you get to pick the exact character you want, or just like "Mithra", "Hume M" etc?

i'm happy with the fishing... but REALLY angry about the nerf to the lu shang quest.
something ive been working on for over 7months (i never botted and i am a miser who would never pay for another’s fishes, that’s just stupid) and its not even worth finishing now.
the reward for a stack hardly covers the price of bait!!!!
i dont understand why they chanced this! its such a trival and annoying quest, and its not like anyone would want to do it again and again, specially when they could sell the stacks for much more than if they turned them in..
and it seems like lu isnt even the god rod anymore. since all the others were made much stronger.
unless it glows gold or something now, which it should!

Price is currently going down, as a result of people selling their lu shang's in frustration of the latest nerf to fishing.

Personally, I'm not sure what I think about it. The new system is more fun, but there's absolutely no way you can do other things while fishing anymore unless you use ACTools, or some other packet-sniffing software. And that's kinda lame, if you ask me.

Fishing was never the quickest money maker, but it was reliable and somewhat relaxing. It was also one of the few choices someone who leveled a WHM or BRD up to 75 could do for decent gil. It's not like we can farm things as fast as melee, or solo harder mobs, like a BLM or SMN can. I'd like to see a WHM or BRD try and solo Aquarius/Mindgazers, or farm Guardian Crawlers as quickly as a DRK, MNK or NIN.

I'm not going to sell my lu's yet, though. They nerfed the price of Grimmonites, which is a bit of a blow to me, but I can still (in theory) make modest gil through crafting Black Ink from Nebimonites and Gigant Squid. That is supposing I don't lose my Shrimp lure on my 3rd cast again, like I did last night.

I guess I'm gonna just wait a bit and see what the fish market turns in to and maybe try to target different fish. Or maybe I'll use my alchemy and woodworking skills to turn myself into a Shihei seller, or something.

The sad thing is that this change to the fishing system didn't affect botters in the least. All it did was hurt those who target fish that aren't breams and black soles.

Didnt the patch say that the camera will always be positioned behind ur character when leaving you Mog House? Well this doesn't work all the time. I zoned into Upper Jeuno and Port Jeuno and my camera was facing towards my MH. So when I moved the control stick forward, it turned me around and I went back into my Mog House :/ Good grief, they cant even get the simple stuff right. And is it me or are all the chat filters screwed up. I can still see when other ppl mobs are paralyzed, I can see when other ppl's casting is interupted, and I can see what ppl are fishing up ><

Shouldnt complain too much, SE made a huge effort this time, "A" for effort
