I haven't played since mid october and while I know character is probably gone by now, I have heard others here have gotten them back after the 4 month period. How did you guys do it?

I dunno, it depends. I had a friend that quit way back in July believe it or not. And he just returned in early Feb. and still had everything he left with. He cancelled his content ID and hasn't paid for his character since July, maybe August. Weird and rare, but not totally impossible.

If you delete you have 3 months to get your character back. I am currently considering the option as I have finally got shit together and now have a pretty set schedule. If you dont delete and just cancel your content ID I am not sure how long you have.

You just need the playonline infocenter # i believe. I got it by going to the FF screen and going the support or q/a database and then by typing in deleted into the search area. It was around there somewhere.

As far as I'm aware leaving the game comes in two varieties.

A) You just leave the game and don't come back. Henceforth, your account will be suspended after about 2 or 3 months, which would make it smart to put your account into suspension before you leave, so you don't get changed any extra monthly fees for nothing.

B) You delete a character ... and then repeat step A.

If you just suspend your account, it's simply that, disablement. You can come back a year from suspension, and have it re-enabled, just like with samba. (smbpasswd -d / -e) It's not that hard for them to keep accounts sitting on their server. However, when you sit there for the 30 seconds to delete your character, once the timer hits 0, your character is gone forever.

It's not necessarily gone forever if you delete it, I know someone who had deleted his character twice already and got it back each time.

If you delete your character you have 3 months, supposedly. Me, I got to be the lucky one to start all over again! My character was still in their system, but for some reason they said they couldn't bring it back. Oh well.
