Well since this is the most popular NA Forum on Ifrit I've decided to do this here instead of many many different forums.

Kinda been doing some thinking, and after the events of the past month or so, I think I might be leaving FFXI. I'm about 80% of this I think. After recent events in a LS I loved and respected, but ended up feeling pretty unhappy in game, and empty since alot of it's fulfilling effects are gone. But i learned a big lesson about FF in this. Sometimes getting the things you dream of, just mark the begining of the end once people start in on you for accomplishing it. Funny how stuff like that works out. I left FS thinking I would be happier, but now just kinda feel bad in a new way. More or less playing a game with 2000+ people, and still feeling pretty alone. After a year of working hard to get to endgame and make a difference, just seems in vain. And i can't bring myself to go back to non-endgame playing after so much love was built up the rush and fun of it all.

I can't allow myself to quit before i hit lvl 75. So 3 more lvls to go. So hopefully i can hang out and do a few fun things with you guys before that point. Drop me a /tell anytime you want guys, since i could use the friendly conversation while playing. Maybe something will change in those three levels, but really at a point right now, that i can't see what i have left to change that. The few options i have thought about seem to be pretty much dead end.

What you need is some friends, not just ppl in your LS that you say "hi, hows it going" to, but ppl you can connect with on a RL basis. For example, me and kotee have been playing this game for a long time, and even though we arent always on at the same time, when we are on we have a good RL conversation. Another example is Yarr and mikey, sure they always make fun of eachother, but you never see them fight.

If you get a good friend that will stick with you through the good and bad, you will love the game. Even if you do quit, you will be close enough that they might even quit with you, and u can play another MMO. I have had the same feelings as you, thought about just deleting my character after not having a good LS for quite some time, but i got friends that keep me on track, and never let me down.

the "friends" thing didnt work for me..

arim is my IRL best friend, and he has been for like 6 years... he dragged my into FFXI and we played for about a year, now he jes quit and moved on to lineage2.. so now im here all by myself

Arim is on L2? tell him to give me a friends registration code for a free month




the friends thing doesnt always work. Its more about the game and what you have to get out of it. If you've obtained all you want then its time to move on really.

I even had a LS that I loved which was why I stayed around for so long, it's hard to leave the game but sometimes it has to be done... plain and simple if it isn't fun for you anymore, don't play it... drop me a line on AIM or PM me here if you ever wanna chat... Same here Ero. We chated a little last night and I told ya how I felt. I say stick with it if you can. But dont if it wears to heavy on you. Its a game and its meant to be fun. People seem to fail to realize that.

I know how ya feel Ero. Back when I left FS I was had the same attitude you have now. But the main thing that has kept me going was my friends, and once I left FS I found out just how many I had. Most of my "friends" won't even /wave to me or even respond to my "what's up?" tells. I haven't had a LS in 3 weeks now. I have a couple of lowbie linkshells but I'm only on for 10 min max every 3 days lol. The point I'm trying to get across is that my friends are what make the game fun for me. That and the prospect of killing Gods and Kings once I get a HNM LS again. But if ya ever wanna talk just send me a /tell man. I'll do the same :P

I understand man, I quit for 2 months, i needed to get away from all the things that were severely bringing me down about the game, being bored seeking for hours, seeing other people "more gimped" than you getting the invites, if you do try forming your own pt you can never get that last job you need, the arrogant n00bs, the arrogant JPs, gilsellers, gilbuyers, the ridiculous ammounts of money for everything, the people who're jealous of you for your gear, status, ls, being a lvl whore, completeing some insane event, the jealousy you feel of other people for the same reasons, not being able to find help with what you need done, etc. etc.

it's hard to pull away when it's become such a part of your schedule, but when you stargetting out there and tending to all the RL issues you've been putting off for the game you'd be surprised at how fulfilling it can be.

I would say, give yourself time, lay-low, create a new character, or lvl a subjob, or avoid the game all together for a bit, it will still be there when you decide to come back, and chances are a lot of the same people will still be around doing the same things.

This game should be about having fun, and if you aren't having fun anymore, it may be time to hang it up (even for a little while). Just know that you've made some good friends, and we'll be here when you decide to return, and if you ever need to talk, or someone to perm some lvl 1 job with.. whatever will make it fun again.. you just let me and the restof the folks who care about you know.

Why the hell does everyone want to play L2? I swear, that game is like going to work every day, except you have to pay to do it. One of the most astounding boring games in recent memory...

i was thinking about L2 or WoW, ended up going to WoW but i still wonder what L2 woulda been like (L2's graphics..are just amazing fora MMO)

Ero we pt'ed in GC i belive with your smn, best thing to do if your gonna quit is sell your crap and give it to some random people or just delete your character so you have nothing to go back too. I quit FF before saying a word to any of my friends, i didnt want think twice about this or have someone with strong words want to make me stay.

I quit because i saw no reason to go on, i played almost 2 years and had a lvl 51 rdm and every other job lvl 37-40. i had many good friends that helped me out so much. but i also quit because i had RL things to get in order, my grades were starting to slip again and i had lost a passion for my artwork and all i could think about was "what am i gonna do on FF today" "or what job" FF became more of a job than a game,

So i tryed out WoW and its.... different , but it suits how i want to play rather getting on FF for countless hours waiting for a pt or lvling subs or farming or running up and down the towns for 3 hours straght waiting for my LS to do Promys and end up kicking me out of the ls.

Unfortunatly i never finished what i wanted in FF but for me it wasn't going to happen. I could go on for hours about why i left FF but i don't feel like it.
its sad yoru quiting ero, but do it the right way or you will come crawling back.
