Question for all you WHM's out there: what do you consider to be the ultimate gear for each spot? These are your criteria: anything you can wear at 75; primarily talking about normal exp, and gods, etc., not soloing. Since I have recently been the recipient of a good deal of nice gear (and no I did nothing to earn it), I can actually think about this now. Please give me your list, maybe with reasons why you consider it the best.

Edit: I thought of another thing, race would definitely matter here, so assume it is for Hume.

oh wow, a question I can answer since I have this job!!! :D I also expect Yarr to list his opinions as well since he has acquired a few kingly items of his own.

8) Weapon slot: fully upgraded relic (haha funny, mjollnir lol haha) or asklepios(actually attainable) : Kraken Club if u are in a LS lucky enough to own one of these ^^ (mistiltein is highly overrated, and purgatory mace bleh)
Note: Dark or Pluto for resting....duhhhhh!!!!
:idea: However the hierarch belt and the errant/mahatma houppelande may replace this staff altogether with the asklepios and the astral aspis, because there is 60 MP you will never gain if u rest with the dark staff :!: So IMHO, this is why the healing staff has got to be the dumbest bought staff on the server because you are spending 2 million on 50 MP you will never see because you have to switch staffs to rest!!!!!

8) Off weapon slot: astral aspis or genbu's shield
:shock: Marge Shield: yea....funny :shock: fazasher death weapon!!!!!

8) Ranged slot: Hedgehog Bomb (ENM item, it's in ammo, look it up, its nice :wink: )

8) Neck Slot: I have seen a few ppl using all sorts of things (torques etc.) in this slot, however I found a great item but it is rare/ex and requires Rank 8 fame in Bastok: The Republican Gold Medal!!!! Read up

8) Earrings: well here is where that HP/MP detriment comes in my choice in these 2 slots is 2 astral earrings but atm I'm not sure if I'll ever even own 1 :oops:

8) Body slot: Cleric's Briault (I like this better on whm than the dalmatica for 3 reasons: the regen potency, the +24 MP at no HP cost and the - enmity, of course the 2nd best choice I feel is the Noble's because as a whm, your cure potency is more important than stats found on a dalmatica. :!:
However dalmatica is great for other magic jobs, you lose 3 def with the Whm AF2 but the reasons listed above is why I like it better than dalmatica, we'll lose HP/MP later in the earring/ring slots :D
Note: errant/mahatma houppelande is also a necessary item to have around for those "OMFG I need to actually rest because my refresh is too slow moments."


8) Hand Slot: Cleric's Mitts *better IMO than the zenith because where as zenith offers a mere magic attk bonus with MP+/Hp- (which no whm really needs as much as making his enfeebs stick on those God mobs) the enfeebling bonus of the AF2 plus the +MP with no deduction to HP and -enmity is a realllll nice touch. :lol:
The 2nd choice is the blessed mitts for the enmity and haste on it
3rd is zenith
&.......SE can shove the noble Mitts up their rear (these suck :!: )

8) Ring slot: Vivian Ring (rare/ex "Hey I have friends and they let me have this ring!!!") this ring is really a +1 of the serket, not only does it add 50MP/-50HP but it also gives you +1Int and +1 Mnd!!! badass :D

The other slot: Shadow Ring - yea....ok......mmmmhmmmmm.....dream on!!!! However, Yarr buddy you may get your hands on one of these at the rate you guys are learning and squashing Dynamis :evil:

Ok, back to reality:
More MP: go with Serket Ring *yawns*
More Mnd: Pluto Ring (dark Ring+1) or the aqua ring (runner up)

8) Back Slot: Errant cape: dream on kiddo
The +1 errant cape: The Mahatma Cape - I have seen this bazzaared 1 time in my whole playing career and it was about 25 million however the fact that I even saw it I felt lucky because I never even knew one existed on Ifrit, to learn what a pain in the ass this cape is to craft read up on it.
Note: I didn't list the shadow mantle because it's seriously a Pld item onry!

8) Waist Slot: Hierarch belt (I have yet to hear of or find a better item, I am curious if their even is 1 :?: )

8) Legs slot: Cleric's Pantaloons. The zenith slacks don't hold a candle to these, The healing Magic +15 makes these supreme whm pants! my runner up would be the JSE blessed Trousers which I also like better than zenith in this slot on a whm.

8) Shoe Slot: AF2 again, Cleric's Duckbills wins!
runner up: lvl 70 blessed pumps JSE
zenith :?: explain why a whm would need Int+2 and Chr+2 in comparison to the other items listed above :?: yea, thought so. :twisted:

:arrow: other cool but uneccessary whm items or items for all jobs in general:
opo-opo crown
goldsmithing sunglasses or crafitng items (chef hat etc.etc.)

Well there you have it, my opinion on what I think is truly the best of the best for this job, as well as what I myself am building towards.

Well i agree with Supa for the most part, but i'm taru also, so while zenith suxorz for us, it's great for elvan/hume/ (Galka?) until you get you hands on AF2.

is a link to my current gear. and i'm quite happy with it.

I do carry all elemental staves with me while on whm to match my enfeebling spells also. (Terra's for slow, ect) and i have a vermillion for when mp runs low. I can also say that the mp count on that site is inaccurate due to latent effects that break from subbing smn and it not calculating the +7% mp you get from blessed brauit. i have 1200mp now without food.

Things i do want to change until i get AF2 and such:
-hedgehog bomb

-fenrir's torque (but also debating on getting the matching torques to magical properties to macro in)

-Serket/VV ring & Aqua ring to replace my electrums

-Blessed pumps (which will be the next thing i get soon)

-Eventually i'll get Nobles (again lol) and AF body (someday) that i will use all of three macro swapping in and out to go with spell. Nobles being on the most, AF2 swapping out for when i use regen, and blessed for when i use my bar spells, but nobles being the main since i cure for about 800 currently with it using cureV (after i'm done buffing mind / healing torque, ect i think i can get it to about 850 which is just amazing for chasing a kiter)

I'm tossed up between a communion+1 earring for the +mind or an astral earring (btw Supa, it's rare, you can only have one) but then again i have great mp, but dangerously low hp, so leaning more towards the communion+1.

Once i have nobles again, for HNM or parties where you whm will not be enfeebling, Asklepois + Genbu sheild. not so much for the added mp, more for the 5% cure and the less damage from Shield.

That's pretty much just my opinion and what i find works for my play style. My best advice is to not really just go for what everyone thinks is best, find your own groove, and don't be afraid to over gear yourself and macro swap for best results, bard and rdm don't have to have the patient on it ^^

yea messed up on the earring slot, magician's or communion sounds good, and I hear there is a divine might earring for mages thats decent. Ero with all that gear your gonna change clothes more than a runway model lol

Alright I agree with what everyone is saying but I am going to list the more common items that can actually be obtained without going through the headache of dynamis, HQ Cursed gear, or almost impossible drops

Please note, this is the stuff I think is the best for hume. MP is a huge deal for Hume.

i'm a MP whore WHM. 75 taru whm and i have 1208 mp with "meh" gear.

im not on to do the actual math, but i could prolly get close to 1500MP

first ask yourself what are the most important attributes. to a lot of white mages, + max mp is important. i disagree on its importance. why? in most situations, your party will make sure your mp is between 100 and 350. the way they do this is by pulling constantly until you are almost out of mp, at which time you have to economize your spells. then you are stuck between 100 and 350 the rest of the night, unless people take restroom breaks or something. then the only difference + max mp does is it makes you rest longer. so i'd say, up to about 1000mp, +mp is important, better if its +mp rather than hp>mp, but after 1000mp, it really isn't important.

MND isn't so important as you reach higher levels. i had MND gear on whm and just couldnt land a worthwhile enfeeble whatsoever. and MND doesnt have a noticeable effect on cures at higher levels either.

Anyway, here's what you aim for, for exp+nms:
#1: Adds "Refresh" effect.
#2: +MP while resting
#3: +Cure%
#4: -Enmity
#5: +MP
after that, it's all to your discretion, so HP>MP, +MND, +Def, -%phys dmg, etc. is all up to you.

In addition, if you plan on leveling other jobs, I advise trying to find decent-enough gear you can share between jobs so you can save inventory space. But to answer your question, WHM-only for exp+nms (only listed the important attributes):

Main: carry 3: Healing Staff: MP+50, +10% Cure Potency, and Pluto's Staff: +MP while resting: 10, and Morgenstern. Dmg: 40, delay: 310, Crit hit rate+6% (yea Mjollnir is better but dream on! same with kraken)
Sub: carry: Genbu's Shield: Def: 24, +10 Stone Def, -10% Physical damage, +10 Evasion.
Range: N/A
Ammo: Fortune Egg: MP+1%
Head: Opo-opo Crown + Pamamas: MP+50, HP+50.
Neck: Fenrir's Torque. Daytime: MP+30, Nighttime: Enmity-3.
Earring1: Magician's Earring. MP+30 if Summoner sub.
Earring2: Arete del Sol. Resist Gravity, Resist Bind, Resist Stun.
Body: carry both: Aristocrats Coat. Def: 41, MP+18, Adds "Refresh" effect, +12% Cure Potency. and Mahatma Houppelande. Def: 43, MND+11, +MP while resting: 6, Enmity-4
Hands: Blessed Mitts +1. Def: 19. MP+18. MND+8. Haste+6%
Ring1: Mana Ring. MP+15.
Ring2: Defending Ring. -10% Physical dmg.
Back: Mahatma Cape. Def:10, MP+32, Enmity-6.

If I had infinite luck, and gil, this would be my list of dream items. (but I don't have either of those so I only have about half this stuff or less, heh)

Main: Asklepios and switch to Light Staff. Dark Staff for resting.

Sub: Astral shield (with Askelpios for max mp), Genbu Shield (with Askelpios for Dynamis), or none when using Light/Dark Staff.

(I know a lot of you seem to be against using anything but Light Staff because you 'lose' that MP, but just make a macro for max mp and hit that macro while you are resting and at almost full MP. When you get up, make your first spell or two a regen/haste then switch to Light Staff).

Ammo: Hedgehog Bomb or MP Egg

Earring: Magician's Earring (when /smn), Astral Earring, Geist Earring

Body: Dalmatica, Cleric's Briault, Noble's Tunic

All of these are really awesome for WHM but in different ways, it pretty much comes down to playstyle and aesthetic preference. Personally I love the way the Dalmatica looks. The Briault is also really nice looking (I loved the AF1 vest, too) and it has the + Regen which would be useful for WHMs that use regen a lot (I do). These are on the 'infintinite luck and gil' list for a reason though ;p

Head: Zenith Crown (Trump Crown probably is better but I'll say Zenith since I already have it and I'm kind of stuck with it. ;p Besides, that Resist Silence might save me one day)

Hands: Blessed Mitts

Ring: VV Ring + Serket Ring. Dark + Serene would also be very nice.

Back: Errant Cape

Waist: Heirarch Belt

Legs: Blessed Trousers or Cleric's Pantaloons

Feet: Blessed Pumps (or Mithra RSE2 .. not sure how other RSE2 is for this slot)

As far as solo weapons go, I would also like to try to get Morgenstern sometime. Recently I've been using the new Martial Wand which does decent damage and for just soloing I would recommend it to any of you :)

Haha, I was reading all of the replies, and while there is NO way I will ever say I'm a good white mage, I'd have to agree with Whisp the most on this matter.

I'm Elvaan, and believe it or not, I don't have a lot of mp, so I've always been striving for +mp gear. But Whisp is correct, in saying that if this were for exp, it hardly matters how much max mp you have, but how quickly you can get it back.

Main: Dark Staff, without a doubt, and Healing/Light Staff. I do own an Asklepios, and that paired with an Astral Shield/Aspis is nice, but 5% is a lot for a 700+ Cure.

Ammo: Hedgehog Bomb, man I want one of these, +mp and -enmity, nothing better.

Head: Trump Crown is appealing, because you don't lose the hp, and maybe you can tell me how much of an increase you get, but otherwise I would say Zenith Crown or Faerie Hairpin.

Neck: Fenrir's Torque is a very nice item, the MP and Enmity switch on and off I barely even notice, however, if you are Bastokan I would go with a Republican's Gold Medal, cuz we just suck at owning stuff.

Earring: Astral Earring + Magician's Earring (If you sub smn) Otherwise I would probably say Phantom+1 haha. For resting, I have been dying to get my hands on a Baroka Earring.

Body: Mahatma Hpl for resting, AF2 body for the Regen macro, Blessed Briault+1 for the Bar- Macro, AF1 for enfeebling and Aristocrat's Coat for the curing. Hell, this may be a lot to macro in, but I believe each one has their benefits.

Gloves: AF2 gloves are pretty nice for the enfeebling, but I would go for either Elvaan RSE2 or Blesssed Mitts +1.

Ring: Serket + Vivian, can't really go wrong, however Pluto's is pretty nice as well.

Back: Mahatma Cape, as with the ammo slot, +mp and -enmity is a good combo.

Waist: Hierarch Belt was an awesome update to mage gear. Elvaan RSE belt actually does give more mp, so I just use this in my /heal macro.

Legs: Blessed Trousers+1 have great stats. +haste, -enmity, some mnd and mp.

Feet: For a Hume in particular, I would probably say Zenith Pumps, while the added stats aren't as needed, the mp is beneficial. I would also say Blessed Pumps +1 as well.

All in all, I meant this to be a 75's list of stuff. At this level I don't see myself enfeebling a lot, so I don't put a lot of emphasis on Elemental Staves or uber MND. As I said at the start, the +refresh and +mp heal while resting are, in my opinion, the most important factors a white mage should hold out for. But, to each their own, good equipment does not make a good player, just have fun and remember the best thing about white mage. We have Raise 3. :wink:

Supa has trump crown and at lvl 70 i think i saw that he has about 40ish mp/hp which for taru is for the win IMO But if want max mp and don't mind losing the mnd and resist silence Faerie hairpin for the win same mp as +1 crown while only losing 20 hp. I know i can't really stand to lose much more hp, while I have godly mp for a whm(w/ 1200mp while using no zenith i can stand to lose some of it realistically since other whms are not better or worse than myself and have far less. And while in exp parties, I rarely see more than 600 of it at a time lol but for things like HNM or bcnm you can't go wrong with having max mp so depends on the situation)

Mys brought up the serene rings, and I had forgot about them. Those are great rings too since you get 15mp and -1enm. But i'm prolly going to be shot for saying this. But i actually have a few things i left off my list. I plan on getting a moldivite earring, and zenith mitts! lol. It is my goal to get a 1000MB in KRT. i'm been busting my ass to cap divine and eventually i'll have those items and use them with a max Mind set up. I think it's doable and just a little challenge for myself. lol. So if any thf's wanna help me go get my moldivite i would love you forever hehe.

Like I said in my original post, I was the lucky recipient of a lot of good gear. Some of this I have, some I still want, but these are the ones I like the best.

Main: Healing Staff (I like to switch it out with dark right before mp is maxed out)

Ammo: Hedgehog (I still have holy ampulla, but want this)

Head: Faerie Hairpin (I still don't know if zenith's resist silence would be worth the hp drop)

Neck: Rep. Gold Medal, Fenrir torque (still have holy phial, lol)

Earrings: Magicians, Death

Body: Nobles (its awesome, AF2 would be nice also)

Hands: Clerics (still have AF1)

Rings: Serket, Serene (still need Serene, using Astral/Peace right now)

Back: Errant (Blue good enough for me right now)

Waist: Hierarch (have it in mog, using Ocean rope now)

Legs: Blessed (makes up for using nobles in -enm)

Feet: Blessed (still using AF1, cure clogs anyone?)


Without food, I have around 1075 mp as a Hume 70WHM. Subbing SMN and with refresh on, I usually hover around 700-800 mp in exp party, so all that mp+ gear is really only for emergencies, and dynamis/gods.
