The number of experience points required to gain each level was originally calculated after considering players' effects on the world of Vana'diel as they progressed beyond the initial level cap of 50. However, a considerable amount of time has passed since the implementation of the final cap of 75, and players beyond level 50 no longer have the same influence on the balance of the game. After a close review, the FINAL FANTASY XI development team has decided to reduce the amount of experience needed for leveling up after reaching level 51 (levels 1-50 will remain the same, however).

The update will affect the following:

-Experience points lost due to KO.
Starting at level 25, experience points lost after being KO'd will be 8% of the amount needed to reach the next level. However, this value will never exceed 2,400.

-Currently accumulated experience points.
At the time of the version update, if a player's currently accumulated experience points exceed the number required for the newly adjusted level, that player's experience points will be reset to one point below the number needed to gain a level.

New content and system-related adjustments are under constant consideration by the FINAL FANTASY XI development team to ensure a balanced playing experience in the evolving world of Vana'diel.

It doesn't mention how much they intend to lower it, I wonder how drastic it's going to be. I mean like are they reducing the Level 75 tnl to like 20,000, or maybe 30,000?

Also, will the 10% -> 8% reduction affect the level 75 capped exp loss on death? (Level 75 chars actually lose 5.4% on death) -- EDIT: Nvm this is answered, I just woke up. :P

What a {/slap} in the face, lol. I know those from the PS2 era (myself included) have had it considerably easier than the PC era. But if it helps, I wish I had gotten this game when it was released for PC

also everyone who is 75 before this patch better get something, like 1gil in my box for every exp point they take away from the lvls from 51-75. or all hell will rise!

I know I probably won't hit 75 before this update. Myself being a 71 drg.. it's a load off, I admit. But to be perfectly honest... I'd rather do it the real way. I know it's extremely hard for me to level, but for me, to get to 75 the real way with DRG, without a perm at any level.. thats an accomplishment for me.

Well, this isn't *that* big of a deal. We'll just see more jobs level 75. And if you aren't ever going to level another job, maybe you can be pissed off but I don't see the point. lol Be nice for when I level PLD, RDM, MNK and SAM to 75. Haha.

heh thx its real easy to lvl in this game if u make your own pt and not just sit around and wait all day for an invite especially if u lvl a shitty job like drg no offense to those drg out there <3 u all. nowadays i see people with LFG comments showing what kind of EQ they have i find it kinda funny cause its not about how good or godly your EQ is its about how good u play that gets u more invites. ^^

Yea, i agree, when I form parties I go based on your subjob, what jobs I need, and rank, cause personally I dont care if you have millions worth of gear if your some rank 2 guy with a gimped sub, cause we know you bought the gil so you probably lack skill anyway. Only thing I look for in exp comment is the @, to see if the person is gonna be highest in pt and close to next level, etc. Thats also why my search comment when I seek is just @xxxx and nothing more.

it says in the OP that those who are already bewteen 51-75 will only be adjusted to 1xp point away from the next level. Which sucks, because lets say you're 1k ~ 71, then they adjust 71 from 39k to oh say 29k, you stand to lose nearly 10k exp because you will then log on and be 1 ~71 (28,999)

it's not anger its just when they do this they are gonna be takeing thousands of our exp away or many even dare i say hundreads of thousands of our exp and just tossing it to the side for absolutelly nothing, im simplly asking for some compinsation for all the wasted time that was spent getting that exp that will be thrown away, mabey just give us some exp scrolls to use on our other jobs, i don't care what it is i just want SOMETHING
