Anyone remember how Schillfina(sp?)could never get a job past like 63 because he couldn't do his job? He used a great sword as a PLD, sword and shield as a DRK and wanted to tank on his DRK and be a DD on his PLD.

I think the main point about the exp loss thing was that they changed it from a 10% loss to an 8% loss, but you can still never lose more than 2400, the way it has been for as long as i can remember. So yea, that doesn't affect anyone at 61+ at all.

Before 50, dying isnt a big deal, you would save 160xp at most which is nothing.
From 50 to 60, you will save at most 400xp (less considering the cap will change) which is still almost nothing.

After 60, the new "8%" will be capped once the "tnl" is 30 000. I'm not sure how much xp will be remove to the cap, I doubt the cap will be lowered by much
