I can read your product key, Kioto, might want to fix that.

Anyway, I'd have to agree to Kioto. If your computer literate, then PCs are the way to go. Apple builds solid, disposable computers, however, they are not as flexible nor provide the platform that I want to work with. I'd bet that the average Apple user has twice the number problems than what I encounter with my PC.

All done with the installation.

Hopefully you all will understand that my thoughts and comments
are based on this version of Longhorn, and directed towards this
particular build (4047).

I had to make a new partition on my main drive with Partition Magic,
separating a small section of my drive to install LongHorn, which
took forever. Then i went on to installing the actual OS.

The overall software installation was quicker then said to be.
Told me it would take 15 minutes but it took roughly about
8 minutes. After that came a restart, then the hardware installation.

The wizzard told me the installation would take UP TO 10 minutes,
but those ten minutes ran kinda long. About 25 minutes after it
started looking for my hardware, it finally go around to ending
the installation.

So far things are looking pretty good. Accept that 80% of my
hardware is actually installed, everything looks fine.

First thing i is change my resolution from default to something
higher, and this is how things look afterwards:
Image

Notice how my video card isnt recognized, nor is my monitor.
Its understandable though, since its still a alpha verson.

But then i go on to do my 2nd first thing after installing,
which is opening up my IE... and BAM! Guess what i get?
Image

I then, force myself to check my hardware... to see what
drivers i need to get. But apparently it doesnt tell me what
i dont have installed!
Image

Ok, so i close everything and go change my mouse settings.
Image

I was honestly expecting a new look here, but its kinda
like a glirified windows xp, so i was a bit dissapointed.

I noticed very good changes in the way the files are displayed.
When you hover over the pictures, a small window with a
larger version of the thumbnail appears, its really neat.
Image

Even when saving a file:
Image

I also noticed the clock on the lower right side is also a calandar,
when you click on it, it opens up, very cool:
Image

For now, this is what i'll post. I hope some of you enjoyed it
so far... Let me fiddle with it for a bit, and install my vid.
and the rest of my hardware, then i'll come back and update
a little more letting you guys know some better features.

Excuse my typos & etc...

If you wish to know indepth information about the 3D Engine,

amen, being a computer science major, everything is done over unix... and none of the profs know how to do things in windows...

Also being a CS major, my profs are using Mac ibook for slide shows in lecture though :p but then again some of my profs are only in their 30's :p

heehee... we have to use unix too... but all i ever learn is the cp, ls, cd and submit command:p

This thread is now officially scrumptrelescent.
Thanks for sharing Kioto.

TCP/IP6 will make assigning addresses so much more fantastical; in a painful sort of way.

Hmm...

Where did you get this and will the actual release come in a 64 bit version?

Microsoft does have Plans on comming out with the 64bit version sometime in their beta release.

Though there's no hard evidence of them actually trying it out,
i'm sure they have implemented it sometime for testing
purposes.

And matti, PM me if you want it.

Something else i found pretty interesting:

Control Panel's new member:
Image

I love it how it only protects from games.
Interesting how it should block everything else that MS
has been having problems with (warez, porn, music, etc).

Also, if i'm not mistaken, i saw this first in Firefox:

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyways, those who are interested in LH, PM me .

It's the computer illiterate download screen -_-

Main problems with this version of LongHorn so fare are:

Constant 20sec OS Lockup. LongHorn locks up and takes 30 secs
to function again, usually happens when i try many tasks at once.

Yet again using 1gig plus FP could probably be the reason.
