yeh... i guess i am guilty at times of being a naive sheltered american even tho i try to keep an open mind and learn about other cultures, it's just insane to me to think that kidnapping a person (in this case a child O.O; ) can result in a legitimate and legally binding marriage. . . you're right it's extremely sad but if it's a widely accepted part of their culture, than maybe i have no right to feel that way. meh i'm confused

hehe I don't think its really accepted, just very had to stop things like this without united voicing. I'm not sure if the marriages are legitimate and legally binding. I can't recall what I learn about that stuff >____< But this kind of stuff is very similar to kidnappings done in africa when the first whites arrived in africa. Where people just came and kidnapped your children and sold them off as slaves and that's that. It's not accepted but it's done and very hard to stop without further help of more prestigious countries.
