Kinda sucks that PETA is now a favorite target of the 3 headed Hydra (Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly), Fox News, and the right-winger platform. Politics is a completely different topic altogether, but there is a fundamental aspect of human personality that threads left vs. right with meat vs. vegan.

I like seeing people preach about people letting their "brothers" die over animals or whatever. If the world really cared they could easily take care of both. And it's not like any of us are actually doing anything to make living conditions for others any better. So people can yap about people dying in third world nations, but unless you're actually doing something about it, I think you should shut the fuck up. Because if you're going to bash someone for actually doing something with good intentions and you aren't doing anything yourself, that's just lame. At least Vegans have some action. Go write your checks for 10 bucks a month to those starving African children and pretend like it actually means anything.

in all honesty the reason i quit eating meat and cheese in 1998 was because of the taste. i didnt care about animals' feelings. i just got to the point where every time i ate a piece of meat i thought it sucked, and i would think of the animal running around and it just didnt seem appetizing. especially cheese. what the fuck is that? like secreted fluid from some hairy ass animal that they solidify. the first human that ever stumbled upon cheese mustve been like oh god what is this nasty biotic goop? people just tend to like shit that fills them up, which cheese definitely does. now though i kinda like feeling not-full.

Say all you want about the horrors of meat and animal conditions.

But man, cheese is where I draw the fuckin' LINE.

Do NOT insult my favorite dairy product.

'Nuff said.

I wonder how in the world people can justify this behaviour with saying we are on top of the food chain. The way these animals were treated in the movies is just fucking retarded.

p.s. cheddar isnt cheese, its plastic you guys named cheese :P

The problem with Africa though, where to start?. It's not that people dont want to help. They recieve billions of dollars a year in Charitable Aid, but the vast majority of that does not get to where it need to go because of all of the corrupt governments and warlords over there that will intercept the aid and use it for there own needs instead of taking care of the people that need it, Of course the only way of defeating warlords is to go in and remove them and we all know what an uproar in the world community that causes.

kinda off topic i know but it has to be said.

I don't care about either. I never claimed to and I couldn't care less about what YOU think. They wanted to play sympathy with videos of animals being slaughterd so I played back with what, in my opinion, should be more important: People.

I never once bashed anyone for not eating meat (In fact I even stated that I used to be vegan). If you look back throught this entire post you will see that the first, and only, malicious remarks made toward another were "I think you should shut the fuck up." which was from you. Everything was a nice happy little thread about views of others until you come in and start calling people hypocrites and telling me to shut the fuck up all because you got pissy with me the other day.

Grow up, Rein. And get that chip off your shoulder.

i still dont see the basis of your argument though matti, its like you think its either you help humans or help animals and i dont see at all how theyre opposing causes. although rein said it harshly hes right that veganism/vegetarianism is at least active action, and its really easy to do something for the cause. yes, refraining from eating meat is actually pretty simple. its not like it expends 100% of your efforts and you cant possibly contribute to any other cause.

my point is its nearly impossible to find anything wrong with practicing vegetarianism, but nearly any rational human being can see, at least in part, the benefits that can be gained from it. the only reason not to take it up really is apathy, or ummm ill simply call it "appetite" (like as in, i love how beef taste so i wont give it up). the logic behind vegetarianism in our mass market economy is simply too sound to totally refute. but i understand, i mean i ate meat for 22 years before giving it up. i dunno i guess everytime i bring this up im just hoping to get people to at least see the logic, at least think about the whole issue, and maybe even possibly get just one more person to join the cause. one person really does make a difference, the annual consumption of animal products of just one person is enough to make a difference.

Yes, well put, Ruby. "Appetite" is why I won't become a vegan. Ever. I love meat. I love eating it. It's part of a balanced diet. The end. Have fun arguing, y'all.

Same with me Feep, lol. Not too interested in adding to any of the arguments. People die just like animals do. Animals kill each other, humans kill each other, humans kill animals, and some animals kill humans. It's an endless cycle that our races will never be free from.
And the founders of PETA should be raped with heavily-spiked maces. That is all.

just a word of warning, i stopped eating meat very rapidly. like one day big macs galore and the next day all vegetables, and it fucked with my digestive system. so you might be sitting on the bowl alot. although i did stop cheese, eggs, milk, and everything else all at once so it was different. its probably just natural changing your diet, i imagine if i all of a sudden started eating steak dinners every night itd take an even worse toll on my digestive system till i got used to it again. its really not hard to go vegetarian though, if you dont mind cooking for yourself a little bit. but try it, i actually do all my shopping at a regular food store and they have alot of soy chicken, bacon, burgers, etc. but anyway, i commend you for trying. i honestly see alot of beauty in a person that is willing to take steps like this out of compassion.

Killing animals is fun. I hunt from time to time and theres nothing like eating that Venisin(sp?) steak that you shot.
I worked as a ranch hand for a summer one year. Have any of yall ever been around a cow? Trust me if u were for any period of time you would know how stupid they are. I hate cows now they age just too dumb to live lol. One time I saw this cow licking an electric fence. It would lick get zapped take a few steps back and the repete the process for like 15 minutes till I walked up and kicked it in the nose and then it ran off.
In the video they say "At auctions electric prods are used to Torment the frightened animals into going where the workers want them to go." Ok how else are they gonna move them? I mean u cant really pick a whole cow up and you cant push them. Ive been zapped by on of those things and they hurt like hell. My friend punched me one time and knocked me out. He also hit a bull in the head as hard as he could. It didnt even stun the bull. SO the electric zap that they get they probably dont feel much pain from. Yea things are rough for them and their life sux but u know what they are animals bread to feed ppl. I think it would cost too much money to give the cattle a shot from a sterilized syringe to kill them then what they use. That thing is pretty cool by the way im talking about the hammer thing.

The thing about the messed up cows is very true. Those are the first to go to slaughter b4 they die.

The poor cattle that go through weather extreams thing is BS those animals are so tough they probably dont even know the temp changed. Ive seen bramah's living in canada in the snow and humid Texas where its 100 deg everyday.

The thing about the weak cattle that cant walk when they are slaughtered so what? do lions go after the strongest wildabest in the heard? no they dont they look for the old and young cause its easier to catch. Thats life for animals.

I can understand people hunting animals for food. But if they hunt animals for sport, I hate that.

Ruby i have a serious question though. I know you are a vegen and such and i totally respect that. I'm wondering? How much meat you think a person should consume a week? Now be real with this answer, i'm not asking for none lol. Cause for alot of people that isn't an answer. I tend to believe in moderation, meat shouldn't be consumed 3-4 times a day.
