The fix is quite simple:

1. Exit out of POL
2. Bring up task manager and call all pol.exe processes if there are any still running
3. Set the reg key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS\InstallFolder\0001
to
C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI
or wherever your FFXi installation may be.
3. Try logging in again
4. If it fails again, repeat steps 1 through 3, then go to you FFXi install folder, eg
E:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI
5. Delete patch.cfg, patch2.cfg, patch.rst, patch.ver and file.txt
6. Repeat steps 1 through 3 and the update should work, though it will have to verify all your files



EDIT: This is info directly from Azaril. This is happening to a lot of people with today's update so he posted the fix. I'm pretty sure this is what happened to you considering I see "Windower enabled" in that SS. lol

lol so much crap on that PC it makes me cringe to wonder how badly his performance is in games

yeah the fix wasnt simple. wanna know why? cause when I uninstalled the fucking game guess what it took with it! system32.hall.dll file. So yeah had to reinstall windows and o what is this?! ethernet controller not found because dell never sent me any fucking cd's with drivers when I 1st bought the machine. So now 7hrs later I may have found the right driver after talking to a bunch of fucking morons at Dell and Time Warner.... cant wait to install and download 5hrs of updates!

by default the TParty plugin isn't on.... you just need to go into the int.txt file and uncomment it... or you can load and unload it from the console with plugin_load TParty and plugin_unload TParty

This is why I have it installed on 2 machines. If one screws up chances are the other still works. Then while I game I reinstall it on the other.

BTW, if you uninstall FFXI it will fuck everything up. I guess I should have mentioned that. haha
