Seems like everyones looking back haha. So lets go a little further. WHere did you come from?

I myself never played a MMO seriously. I always thought they were garbage with no depth. I always thought they were a little empty.

I mean before this game I, played Star wars galaxies...

I was a medic dancer... I choose this because it was helpful for parties... But honestly the character i made was so gay lol. I thought it was funny haha. I used to make camps in the middle of the woods and have my character dance like a retard all night. I didn't have very many audiences lol suffice to say. I remember going into a bar to see if i can up my business, cause i was being scum bagged in the woods lol.

I went in there with my drabs lol and i was blown away by the ladies in their exotic dresses. I ended up getting jealous cause these bitches were getting all the money and i was getting the pennies.. SO i challeged this girl next to me and she thought i was tipping her, then i promptly open fire on the bitch a couple of times before she destroyed me haha.

Btw didn't know a dancer can kick my ass ahhahah the way she did anyway lol.

Then before this game i tried eve online because i've always like sci fi shit and the concept of a space MMO excited me. After 2 weeks of flying a ship around and being attacked by the "MOO"
The moo being a group of elite players that would raid lowbies like myself and rape them off their goods.

Anyway i gave that up haha.

I played this game because it was an ff game, and i was a big fan. For some reason however i felt a draw to the game that no other mmo has managed to get on me. It was different the cut scenes the story, all gave the game more of a depth.

Anyway what about you guys?

I played 1st person shooter and was good at them. I played Quake 3 with Yarr alot then I played Medal of honor, my Clan was top of the list and everyone wanted in. I got some of my Clan buddies interested in FFXI. Krillison and his Brother Ender (or known in FFXI as Mishmaa) and Pic (or known as Fester) and another that only last 1-2 months. I played Medal of honor with these guys like i play FFXI. I played it for about 1-2 years with them. We constantly got Called Cheaters b/c of how good we all were with Rifles but w/e. I still see Krillison and his g/f Nyria (sorry can't spell) around and it awesome to Catch up with them. Then i moved into FFXI with yarr b/c he convinced me and i thought the idea of it was real cool but i also played Call of Duty off and on while i started FFXI. Now the present ^-^

FFXI is my first MMO. Not counting iRO because that doesn't count.
Before this I played UT '99, Tact. ops, Counter-Strike, Gunbound and some other shit.

FFXI was my first real MMO too. I had played the beta of Planetside, Ashrons call 2 and some other one that was in space. but FFXI was the first one I paid for. Before that I played everything that looked cool. I spent months playing Morrowind and its expansions. I also played Counter-Strike, Halo, the other FFs and anything else that looked cool. never have I been so devoted to one game like I am to FFXI.

I was Yarrthepirate in DAoC. I was a Ranger. I went to about level 20 before I realized I wanted to be a Warden. A the time in DAoC Wardens were really looked down on. People really never understood the real potential of this Class(Job). This is when "Yarr" was born.

I leveled my warden and put my points into a spec that was different from any other Warden on the server at that time. I made my warden fully defence and healing. I did nothing in Melee. Most wardens put points into defence for the 4second bubble (basically it cast blink every 4 seconds on everyone in the party) and then the rest into melee.

The fact was I speced to be purly defence. I wanted to be the person everyone went after but couldnt kill in RVR.

It worked out perfectly. I soon became the number one Warden Realm Point Earner on my server. I was the the third highest RvR Warden over all servers. This was mostly because I grouped with a very well ballanced Gank group known as CKD. They liked my spec and I like getting Realm Points.

Bascially I had buffs that made it so Mages only nuked me for 20% of their dmg. I was so brutally hated by all the mages on my server it wasnt even funny. I had tons of healing magic and the aoe Blink that kept all my party alive while all the melee and mages tried to take me out (since my role was pivital).

I loved DAoC and if Mythic wasnt such a crappy dev when it comes to nerfing and ballance I would still be playing.

This is a good shot to show how hated CKD was. We basically did our own thing and took little care as to what the server was doing. Since we could do anything we wanted on our own it really pissed off everyone else. This screen shot was after I had been grouping with CKD, but I wasnt a part of the guild yet. I joined shortly after here because I was booted from my Guild and Alliance for being a CKD supporter haha.

People always hate the players on top. This alliance chat shows just how hated ckd was because we were so good.

Image

This is a shot of me with my info box of resists up. the % you see is how much magic dmg was reduced. I would get hit for like 50-60 when normal people would get hit for 300-400. I was hated haha
Image

Check out my stats and check out who im flexing at then look at my old school shots. This same player is in a shot with me and tal before we were even level 5. Some really old school players might remember him.
Image

This is how our PBAOE group worked. We ran around the back roads while different scouts on our server would update us as to locations of the zerg. When they stopped moving we would rush in and then bomb them. In the flash and the chaos most people died before they even knew what was going on. It was great. We took out this group of 70+ players about 3 times that night before they gave up and went home. This wasnt even our best preformance, although it was highly talked about on our server forums and other server forums. We didnt invent PBaoe gank groups but we were doing it long before it was popular. We were the first on our server at least.

The rush in.

The aftermath. (the pictures dont actually go together but you get the idea lol)

same as Ike... This is my first MMORP. I was always a console junkie.. not to the point where I had like neo geo and every sega system and 3do and jaguar etc. But I def had a ton of games and stuff for nes, snes, ps1... anyway, i must've played the first FF waaay back in like 79 or whenever that shit was first released and it hooked me into RPGs. Played almost every major console rpg.. you name it i prolly played it: the dragon warrior series, phantasy star series, sword of vermillion, bard's tale, zelda series, crsyalis, secret of mana, diablo, chrono trigger series, etc etc. I would consider myself a pretty hardcore FF fan, i bought ps2 for ffxi when it came out and for that reason solely. Likewise when they released FFXI for PS2 you besta know my ass marched right out and scooped up a copy. I even had to swap PS2s with a friend because i had one of the older ones that weren't compatible with the network adapter. FFXI has been pretty much my main focus for like the last year and a half.. haven't been interested in too many other games.. I'll prolly quit once FFXII is released.. but we'll see because FFX-2 didn't sway me for shit.

I've played almost every MMO to date, granted I didn't stick with them for long. Reinheld was created on Ultima Online back in the day with my RL friends. We all had some stupid hybrid weather related names. I stuck with the name ever since.

Played Phantasy Star Online on the dreamcast and GC for a good while. It was like MMORPG-lite. But it was the first console RPG and I ate it up. I didn't get into PC games much until I really learned software/hardware mechanics and started to branch more into that community. FFXI was the first real MMORPG I played, and I had no idea what I was getting into.

Ive never played an MMORPG. Most online game I ever played before FF was Starcraft. Then I went with my friend one day to the mall and he bought this game. I helped him install it and figure out he needed a new graphics card and watched him play. I remember watching him run around in this huge world and then get on the Mhura-Selbina boat and go to Mhura where he got stranded. I was like "OMG NEED TO PLAY THIS!". At that time my other friends were playing Lineage 2 so I bought that as well and played it while finding a copy of FFXI. I started playing both but I found FFXI to be more enjoyable and it took too much of my damn time to just play FFXI lol.

I am a console junkie. I'm a huge FF fan and FFxi is my first MMO ever, mainly because I'm a Mac user I have never been into computer games. However I did play a lot of Quake and UT in University on my iMac graphite.

FFxi was actually a large influence as to why I chose to move to Japan after graduating Uni, lol. FF was also a great way to keep in touch with friends back home in Canada...unfortunately all of 'em except for Iolanthe have moved on to WoW...losers><.

Well, now I'm still in Japan, married, settling down here and still playing FF. Life is great! :D

Closest thing to MMO i played was Starcraft and red alert nothing special. didn't really want FFXI cause i felt the chocobos looked like shit (granted this was what 3 years ago) then some where poped into looking into this game was all OMG'ing with ike about it cause it looked pretty. went and got ff took like friggin god 5 hours to install (ike and i played DDR whiel waiting, and i still own his socks in light mode XD) once it installed, one of the FF disks exploded in my drive and it was funny and stuff.

we playd i slapped ike for thinking tarus were cute, but at the time they made me think of poor hungry children beaten by there parents (again 2 years ago)
so now im playing FF regreting every moment of starting cause now im friggin hooked and im not even 75 from play since oct of 2003.....

it's all ikes fault anyways

Delta Force 2 was my first online game, played that for like 5-6 years ˆˆ;
Once Halo came out for PC I started playing that and met Kathan on there. Our halo squad died and we got tired of all the lag and lack of servers so we both switched to FFXI~ :( Lord, what did I get myself into...

eh let's see... (good topic btw)

The first MMO that I got heavily into had to be Runescape. see I never had much money growing up, the computer I had could run runescape though haha. Played that for about 3 years.

Image
Me way back in the day lol, I had been playing for like 2 years before taking this ss. Man this gear used to be worth something :P

a few years ago I played that hell that was Phantasy star online for GC. There was this nasty ass glitch though, it would freeze the GC while saving during online play(no server side characters) which deleted a few 100+ characters I had. so I put down mmo's for a bit.

Then heard about FFXI coming out, this game rolled up the 2 things I love about games. FF and online play. so here I am, and howdy do.

I started EQ in the year 2000, having NO idea what it was about. I was assured by the man at Fred Meyer's that there was a single player game. I was shocked to find that it was all multiplayer. My brother urged me to return the game and get the game he wanted to play, "European Cossacks". So I convinced my dad to let us start playing and I created a Gnome named "Dobby" (keep in mind I was in like 4/5th grade). I remember not being able to see a thing and being sorely disappointed. Indeed, EQ had let me down.

However, my brother didn't see it this way. He began playing more and got his friends into it. He soon met a character named "Brruce Leezard", a 50-something Iksar monk. It turns out that Brruce lived in my town, in fact, he was only a year older than my brother. As I watched him play EQ I began to regain interest. He told me of his adventures in the deserts, killing Dervish Cutthroats and Dorn B Din. I created my second character named "Binry", a Halfling warrior, not soon after. I began to love the game, although the lack of computers in my house and my brother's growing EQ addiction left me with very little playtime. Eventually, I became hooked on Everquest. I have a box downstairs that as my school stuff from all the years. 4-7's notebooks have picture after picture of various weaponry and many many maps of Norrath.

I left EQ after I met my friend Alex in 6th grade, whom I play all my MMOs with now. We began playing D2 realm together and soon moved to WC3. We got WAY into WC3 after awhile, and that definately is where I developed my late-night playing tendencies. I started playing until 1:30am, then 2am, and so on. We also had our first LANs.

I was tracking a peculiar online game known as Final Fantasy XI. The graphics blew me away. They were far superior to those of EQ, even with the Luclin update. I was a little weary at first, seeing only screenshots of Humes with beginning RSE. I thought there might not be any armor at all. Alex said that the way the battles worked was that eveyrone had to click on a mob at the same time to enter a battle scene, like the other games. I kind of dismissed FFXI for the time being.

I went back to WC3 and joined a clan. It was my first clan experience outside of EQ. I actually ended up leading it. However, I decided to give FFXI another look, much by mistake. I ended up going to some site called FF-extreme.com or something and I shocked by how cool the accurate information looked. Later that summer, going into 8th grade, I linked this new person I had met last year, Eric (Aka Hale) the info. He, suprisingly, had a very postive and excited reaction to it. The next schoolyear was filled with our Vana'Diel adventures until I was forced to quit by my dad, who said I played way too much.

Wow. Longest post ever. OK hopefully my friend is back from the amusement park so we can start leveling in wow again -_-
