I spent 100k on tools last night, and I wasn't even using shuriken and some of the elemental tools.

So, if I need at least 100k for every 10k-20k of xp... and I'm only level 56 nin...? How much xp is there between 56 and 75?

How did this thread get so off topic anyway? I hate it when people bitch *about* people bitching. Xiona and any other RNG have every right to be pissed, this is just another case of SE nerfing rather than buffing up the other jobs to balance things. =/

When i was lvln rng through i carried bow gun and xbow with ammo for all. I'm not the only one who does this either...so don't think your spells could ever come close to the amount a rng spends on ammo alone. Try doing some end game stuff to...ohnoz you have your spells already and can use them at no cost forever...but I on the other hand drain god knows how much gil on even cheap ammo (holy/acid bolts etc). Also who said equip was cheap for rng...granted a lot of rngs use ra/ex gear...but a lot of our accessories are expensive. Look at Jong for example...triumph earringsx2, behemoth rings x2, etc.

You're forgetting a pretty expensive item that most melees, at least the good ones, used. Food. That stuff was expensive. I remember coming back to the game and was blown away that everyone had sole-sushi+1 and stuff. You can't sell that back

From my observation, and most RNGs I have come across, use arrows, and only use bullets when trying to keep Marksmanship skill current which is only a small amount of the each. I wasnt saying being the BEST ranger you could be, i didnt even INCLUDE the food cost and the tool costs in with that 3 mill. And only newb ranger use just bow. I real ranger uses regular arrows, regular bullets, Acid bolts, and Demon arrows. Which arnt cheap

unfortunately the nerf was directed at rng's. so there is no way around doing less dmg. im sorry, try all you want but rng will never be the same. the tp nerf way back when was for mnk's abusing relic knuckles to spam asuran fists infinately. drg just happen to get in the way of that but they didnt lose any of their base ability. all this new crap with +ranged attack wont affect much. sorry +30 ranged attack doesnt add 75 dmg to your bolts. let alone 500dmg to slug shot. skill doesnt come into play when using ranged attack now as did it before. kinda rediculous that now i have to stand way outta range and still not hit with the same acc and dmg i did before. rng were actually meant to be a dd, ie: 2hr is instant damage shot, /ja's are barrage and sharpshot... just stupid they make them literally worse than a mage trying to skill up in a xp pt.

but however i DO understand them making rng dmg vs gods less. that was a reasonable nerf, because it was making them stand out vs other melee on HNM and such.

yea it appears they messed ninja up a decent amount to.. was tanking in a pt as 71nin and realized a few things,

1: hate loss is definately noticable, which is kinda gay. but thats not the best part

2: they changed Ni to Ichi click off %... used to be 50-55% was golden for click off, now if i click off at 50% it gives me the has no effect crap.

3: not a big one but i def wasnt expecting this, Gob rush is actually 3 hits now, not 1 soooo............

damn right! thats 11mil for head, body, and legs, not to mention rings, earings, feet, hands, etc...

well, if i had the ability to just spend money for each swing of my great katana to get 100000000000damage kasha's, i would do it in a heart beat. and so what if you spend 20k for each exp session @ 75... how many times you go to exp? 5times a week? that 100k, big deal. exp 5 times a week for 10 weeks. thats a million gil, congrats go camp roc, or some crappy hnm of the sort (HAHAH ponuh's old title!)

bottom line, it costs everyone gil to buy equip, its how commited you are and how much of a loser you are to get the extra goodies (HQ staves, +1rings, cock charm, etc) You can still do a decent job at any job by using some decent equip, hell, most of us started the game w/ just the regular +1stat rings, and such.

PS: and xiona, imagin tanking as a ninja on a 28.8kps dialup connection... have to click off Ni @ around 30-40%, its fun

Where do you get 20k for 1 xp session? I'm not saying other melee are inexpensive gear wise by any means. I'm saying with most melee there is a point where you are done spending money (besides food) rng will always spend money.

RNG ammo can be anywhere from lets say 4k/stack to 20k/stack dependning oh what you want to use. You can easily fire off 15/20 shots in 1 fight. So lets say Chain 5 = 1 stack. A good endgame party can do chain 5 every what? 5 mins. That's 12 per hour, 12x4= 48k 12x20 = 240k. Per hour. You can do the rest of the math. ;) That's not even including ninja tools.

I'm not the type to go the expensive route, I just can't see firing off demon arrows constantly or bullets. Even going the cheaper route you can easily drop a few hundred k in a night.

With all the death xp i've had to gain back + merits I've practically lvled rng to 75 twice. Approximately 600-700k XP since I hit 75. Trust me, the cost adds up ; ;

I always felt the cost of RNG or NIN was the price you had to pay to LVL to 75 five to ten times faster then any other melee job. Not to mention you hardly see RNGs sitting outside an ally watching a God fight... opps maybe you will now LMAO :twisted:

rng played cheap(talking about no omgz +1 shit bcuz 4 r acc is sooo worth 20m isnt it? ^^), but decent geared, can still just as well as a rng w/ better gear its all about agressiveness and luck(luck mainly)
and god knows all the ppl i pt w/ my pulling style is screw mp finish the chain dammit and that chain 0 looks sexy style...

to mys: <3 ill only use it for events~my thf can so do way better in survival situation :p and that 35k death exp on rng i made b4 patch should last me a good long while b4 i decide to gouge my eyes out..

rng was fun for me coz i didnt have to move around more and get pissed when idiots dont get allinged not bcoz of the uber dmg i can do w/ it in a exp pt coz sygus parsered every time we pt w/ a rng and got results of me out DDing them.....
now to me the cost to play rng in endgame isnt worth the money
good thing i got thf.......

The difference in damage between /nin and /war is big though, I've had parties with both and the difference is definately noticeable. Before Zilart expansion, /nin sub was not an option and people managed to play as /war so i'm sure you can still pull it off today.
Though judging from your reaction on what I suggested, it sounds as if you think that /war sub is stupid and absurd, which it isn't.
You just have to make your pick: deal better damage at cost of your own safety (heck rangers can afford to die occasionaly, even then they'll still get to 75 a lot faster than any other DD), or deal much less damage but feel more secure.

It's just a suggestion to get your damage up again.

Remember when everyone thought that /thf sub for ranger would be uber? Maybe it's time to re-examine thf as sub for ranger, might be decent, good evasion and good agi for better ranged accuracy.

I'm in favor of this nerf, because everyone was just jumpin on the RNG bandwagon to be an "ubar 1337 killar of teh NMs."

One thing just bugs me, though...It's that the physics of the nerf don't make sense. If you're up close, you should be doing more damage because there's less wind resistance to reduce the velocity of the projectile. The accuracy thing makes sense, though. :roll:

As far as "role playing" goes... wouldnt a closer moving target give a ranger less time to draw tension on thier bow, which would cause less damage? As opposed to being "out of the fray" which would give them a longer more timed draw, and harder shot? Eg. Hitting something in a spot that would hurt... as opposed to hitting it anywhere at all (like in the head/eye, as opposed to the arm or leg)

shotguns close range dont hurt at all they do like 10 dmg to me irl but the far ones ouch ; ;
