Well on caitsith alot of our strat use nin tanks, but recently i have seen that most other servers are big fans of pld tanking. is this true and could you enlighten me on how to tank things like KB faf/nid aspi and all the others with a PLD? just curious cuz the ls i was in b4 was active in claiming HNMs but they used nins, now that im in a new ls we are just finishing up with sky and every one has what they need from there so we are moving to HNMs now and we have more plds then nins and are interested in tanking pld style. any strats on how you guys take out the HNMs on earth would be great, thx.

Really sky belongs to the NIN tank, but Land Gods are a different story. You need PLD all the way on it really. KB you Kite, so could go either way, but for Nidhogg you'd definatly want PLD, and Aspi too due to draw in and breath attacks (but i've seen a nin do decently while waiting for PLD to get there, and holds thier own fine on the NQ version) But that's just my opinion Every ls kinda has thier own way of doing things, but i seriously doubt a NIN can handle Nidhogg. KB on the other hand is like Kiting Kirin really, a good NIN with a good support team could do it fine.

well this is the things i wanna know how you guys do it cuz all i have ever seen is nin tanks on everything in the game. nins basically just stand there without weapons drawn and just cast ninjitsu while the blm rdm and smn dmg it and the whm and brd heal and refrsh. anyother job is basically there for support healing. like me as a bst have to come with mp gear on to support heal. im just curious how a pld would do it against faf/nid cuz maybe then it would leave room for other jobs like meeles to do some dmg aswell. i dunno just never seen it done with a pld before so i wanna know how much switching the tanks role effets the rest of the alliance.

We have tanked all Gods but Kirin with a PLD with no problems. With the right setup (and i dont mean 17 blm 1 pld) tanking stuff like Byakko with a PLD (not kiting, just going toe to toe) is actually a little easier and more safe.

the big advantage of pld is the fact that it can hold hate easier than nin for the most part. it has alot more abilities/spells it can throw out to pull hate. i think for little HNM like serket and stuff nin is a better tank but for kings the fights usually range longer and id imagine nin having trouble keeping hate off blm. also in sky ive toe-to-toed all gods and its really not that bad. you just need a few whm and pray the rng lands the dispel item

wow thats awsome, i really havent seen pld tanks much all ways been nin even on faf andnid. the nins just cast and never fight all meeles just come for claim and back up heal. basically all thats done is by blm rdm whm smn brd nin and rng, thos are like the only jobs that actually d work the rest are there for claim. so with a pld tank does that mean jobs like war, drk drg and bst can actually meele or is it the same with nin tank, you dont wanna give the hnm's so much tp by adding more meele? i mean as a bst i always wanted to charm the flys in the room and put them on faf/nid for extra dmg.

fafnir has meditate anyways, he gets tp regardless of whether you melee or not, ever slept fafnir and had him wake up and use tp right on wake? thats why

SE balanced the game well enough that WAR NIN and PLD all work equally well for 90% of the mobs in game.

nah most linkshells just dont realize what support jobs PLD or WAR needs to be effective in toe-to-toe tanking.

War, nin and pld all suck...you just need to throw a bunch of summoned blue rat and the mob will die in no time.
