To anyone who may wish to know or care, I'll be out of the game for a 1-2 week period of time.
After downloading the new POL update, it turned my PS2 off as per usuall, but when I turned it back on to log back in, it seems that it has fucked up my HDD. It is no longer reading, or even recognized as installed.
So it looks like I have to go and buy a second copy of the game so I can get back online.../sigh...Luckily the little mom & pop import game store only 2 blocks from my house still carries the PS2 release, so it's just a matter of grabbing $100 to buy the damn thing.
I'll just be forum and AIM whoring untill then, so I'll see you around. My AIM is Kennogoakurei. Drop a line if you wish and we can shoot the shit.

That happened to me and u just have to reformat the HDD, call SE and say u tried but ur disk won't work, they will send u a new one, takes about 4ish days. Worked fine after that.

And I wouldn't be fibbing on the disk not working...I've tried that fucking coaster about 10 times, and it always either freezes on the initial "Checking HDD. please wait a moment" Screen. or it opens a red error window saying the HDD isn't even installed. >_<
I would be greatly appreciative of a phone number.
Edit: Nvm on the phone number. it's listed on the support page of POL's website. I'll be sure to give them a call. Thanks again for the hint. If it works, great...saves me about $100. If not, oh, well...it was worth a shot.

Hmm...Good news. A friend in my ls is willing to sell me one of his PS2 HDDs if SE doesn't come through with replacing mine. Apparently, when him and his friends all started the game simultaeneously, they all quit after a week, so he has a small stash of HDDs and PC versions that were just handed to him. lol.
Hopefully should be 1 1/2 weeks tops till I'm back.

My friend will be sending me the HDD this saturday through over night shipping...Hopefully I'll be back online by wednesday. ^^
Edit: Macabre, I did take your advice and called SE about the topic. After about 20 mins of ping-pong tranfers and restating my problem, I was told that indeed, they can fix the problem for no charge, or even shipping.
But the catch was they needed me to send not only the HDD, but the network adaptor AND my PS2.....and give them THREE WEEKS to fix it and return it... <Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.>
All I need to do now is reimburse my friend for shipping fees and wait for delivery. ^^

The new HDD my friend mailed me came in today, and I'm now re-installing everything.
I should be back online tomorrow morning at latest. ^^
