I am a Narnia fan. The first movie is one of the greatest fantasy movies ever IMO (second to Lord of the Rings trilogy). The trailer looks promising! I wonder why they skipped the 1st and 3rd books? lol

The special effects are really nice because the're done in a very creative way, not just flashy.

I haven't any of the books but I really enjoyed the first movie
How does the book Prince Caspian compare to the first book in terms of goodness?

isn't the actual storyline really confusing because if you read the books in the order they were released they're not sequential?

I remember reading three or four of the books when I was in fifth grade, that's probably the only reason why i'll go watch this.

Wow, The Chronicles of Narnia - talk about a trip down memory lane. Remembered reading the books and the show they aired? Was it on YTV? Been a while. I think should have the books stored away somewhere.

I haven't read all the books since I was a kid. I recently re-read the first 2 and they were both good (got them as a gift). The first book sets up for the lion the witch and the wardrobe well, but it would have been a strange movie. It explains how Narnia was created, why the random lantern is in the snow, why the wardrobe has a portal to Narnia, where the witch came from, etc.

The first movie was pretty bad because it tried to accomplish what Lord of the Rings did with a PG rating. There were naseautingly large amounts of times when they'd quickly cut right before an arrow was about to hit or something. Also the White Witch actress was horrible. The story was pretty good and the movie had promise but it ended up failing pretty badly I think

I'm under the impression that The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian are the two most popular books in the series. That's my guess!

Well the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was the first book written as Prince Caspian was the second. They are maintaining some chronology, probably to allow them to use the same actors.

lost all respect for you, tilda swinton was the only interesting thing about that movie, IMO, and I can't think of any actress aside from maybe meryl streep who would of done a better job

I remember reading the first book, loving it, and then saying "hell no" to the second book. As an 8 year old, I wasn't going to read something after the LWW blew me away!!! It's still one of my favourites. Maybe I'll read Prince Caspian after seeing the movie.

I thought it was Terry Bogard and some random little boy.

They skipped the first book because it wouldn't make a good movie. Also, the third book is completely irrelevant to the overall story. I dunno, Narnia is a nice book series but it's not one that's particularly conducive to telling a good story on film.

I still haven't seen The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe yet, shame on me... While I loved the books, I thought Prince Caspian sucked... I still have the books kicking around, maybe I'll dig them out and reread all 7..

Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair always were my favorites of the 7, I'd totally see those if they made movies of them

I always read them in the order of The Magician's Nephew, Lion/Witch/Wardrobe, Horse and His Boy, Caspian, Dawn Treader, Silver Chair, Last Battle... maybe not how they were released, but it's the most chronological way iirc

Yeah, the order of the series is all fucked up. I read it when I was younger, in real oreder, then I read it in chronological order. Two totally different understandings of the series lol.

My five second run down for each book:
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe -- Most well known, kids hope in a wardrobe and meet Mr. Tumnus, "Welcome to Narnia."

Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia -- A thousand years go by, magic is disappearing, Telmars, aka sailors that got lost at sea, found a magic door on an island and settled narnia, enter the picture. Evil king, rightful ruler, people turn in to pigs.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader -- Meet Eustace, everyone goes out at sea, meet eustace the dragon, island of nightmeres, etc. etc. Aslan is jesus and they go far enough to visit his dad's place.

The Silver Chair -- Enter jar jar "wigglewam" binks. Eustace redeems himself. Almsot get eaten by giants, get fed talking animals.

The Horse and his Boy -- I liked this story. Kid runs away with a horse. You learn a lot about the other nations in this book. Namely Tash or what's his face.

The Magician's Nephew -- Cool because it explains what the lampost was doing in Narnia, and generally the start of the world ... otherwise a really trippy story. DON'T RING THE BELL YOU ARTARD.

The Last Battle -- Quite literally the 'last battle,' kids die on a train, end of the world, everyone goes to heaven and has an awesome time.
"Facts" from wikipedia:
These were the order they were written in inside the spoiler tags, however, in 1994 under suggestion from Lewis's nephew they were rearranged in their internal, chronological order: The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, Witch, Wardrobe, Horse and his Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the Silver Chair, The Last Battle.
